How much time does it take you to shave?

I've tried to do "speed runs" and all I can archieve is a bloody shave that takes 30 mins.
I soon discovered that for me, the right amount of time to shave properly is about 1 hour. I have to shave slowly and I do 4 passes to get BBS. So far, my best shave is the one from today and I needed around 1 hour and a bit more to do it (I woke up at 4am in the morning by mistake so I decided to take my time)

I then started to think... am I taking too much time? I really don't care 'cause even if I get less sleep, I get more fun but the feeling that I was not being efficient started to bug me and I wanted to come here an ask that.

I'm not very interested in your "Best time", I'm rather interested in your "average time for a BBS" :)

Head and face take 20-25 minutes including cleanup. I can push it down to about 15 minutes if I don't mind being "presentable" instead of near BBS or BBS. If I really take my time I'll take 30-35 minutes.

If it's just my face, I take about 15 minutes.

My goal is DFS and the BBS comes when it does but I don't strive for it. I'd guess my average time is 20 minutes.

I do get up early enough to take my time so 30-35 minutes is the norm for me. The house is quiet, there's no rush, and it's "ME" time. Three passes, by the way.

    O_o wow
you can shave 3 times while I'm still finishing the 2nd pass.
Today my average time per pass was 12 mins. (Clean up, Lather, Razor Pass)
I always spend around 3 mins in the lather phase, I usually have to play a bit, I don't like to just do the "paint brush" motion over my face hehe :)
When I wash my face I spend around 5 mins and the cleanup of th gear is around 10 mins top.

Well, it's still interesting to se eyour average times :) maybe with practice I can shave a bit more faster and reduce the time to 45 mins or so. (I can sleep more then :happy102)

I'm about 15 to 20 min for 3+ passes plus cleanup, AS, policing, and such. I manage to brush my teeth and hair, and apply deoderant during that time as well. That's with a safety on a typical work day. On the weekends or whenever I'm using a straight it still takes me over half an hour.

    what are you shaving with?

the reason I ask is because my shave length increases in proportion to the aggressiveness of the razor. So, with a mild razor my shave can go as quick as ten minutes. I do one pass with touch ups for missed spots.

with an o.c. micromatic my shave will go upwards of 30 minutes because I have to be very careful with blade angle and pressure at every moment on each stroke.

I never aim for BBS. Sometimes I get it, most times I don't. I figure being presentable is enough, considering I have two early bird kiddos in the house (they like to get up around 6am).

Prep time 1-2 mins, 2-3 mins per pass, tidy up 1 min.

Usually all done in 10', definitely done in 15' though.

It usually takes me 15 minutes to shave 3 passes. Another 10 to clean up and put on Witch Hazel and balm.

If you get a great shave and it takes an hour, I really dont see anything wrong with that.

15 to 25 minutes, depending on number of passes, whether or not I'm getting ready for work, time of day, etc.

prolly average 20 min. I never worry about BBS it is a myth for me anyway. I can work on it and get it but a few hours later already in the sandpaper stage. so why work that hard. A DFS is cool for me.

20 - 25 minutes and add another 10 or so when I shaved my head. That is for time in shower doing prep, actually 4 pass shave, post shave application of astringent, a/s and cologne and finally clean-up.

When I did the cartridge thing, I would spend no more than 5 minutes or so shaving unless I was going somewhere that I really want a close shave. Of course when I tried to get a BBS shave with the cartridge all I usually go was an irritated neck.

Even though it takes me much longer to shave now a days, I enjoy shaving again.

Usual mornings the alarm goes off at 4 and it it 4:45 when I look at a clock again after slowly getting going, shower, put contacts in, shave, brush teeth, clean up etc... I would guess the actual shave time is about 15-20 minutes. With a straight it is probably about a 20-25 minute shave.

But like has been said before, if you have the time and you are happy with the results - go for it.

Lately, during the week, about a bit less than 10 minutes, because I shave with a Ming Shi. If I use my straight on the weekend, anywhere between 30-45 minutes.

I love to take my time, because shaving is to me a pleasant habbit :D

So including prep and cleanup, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes at least....

    No hurries for me here!!

I too enjoy taking my time. I currently use a Merkur classic. I usually take 20 minutes with prep and cleanup. Could someone tell me what a Ming Shi is?

    Thanks,

    Alan
