I went to the store the other day. I was only in there for about five minutes, and when I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket. So I went up to him and said, ‘Come on buddy, how about giving a guy a break?’ He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. So I called him a stupid idiot. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having bald tires! Then I really got angry at him. He finished the second ticket and put it on the car with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket! This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. I didn’t care. My car was parked around the corner.
Your joke about annoying the cop reminded me, a retired cop, of some of the stupid drivers I've pulled over through the years. I was not in the traffic enforcment division, so I only pulled drivers over when they were so flagrant in their violations that I felt I had no choice. Because I hated the paperwork and court appearances associated with writing tickets, my routine was to only warn the offenders, then let them go without issuing them tickets. My thinking was that just pulling them over would get their attention and prompt them to be more careful in the future, then letting them go without being issued a ticket would be good PR for the sheriff's office -- a win win situation. And I always made it a practice to let the drivers know, as soon as I asked for their license, registration, and proof of insurance, and told them why I stopped them, that the stop was to be only a warning. However, I can't tell you how many tickets I ended up issuing to drivers who insisted on arguing about the stop or who were belligerent, even after being told that I had intended only to warn them, even after being warned that if they didn't behave in a civil manner they would be ticketed. There were even a few drivers who I ended up putting in jail and impounding their vehicles because their attitude escalated to the point of being abusive. So, the bottom line to this story is that if you get pulled over by a cop, be civil. It may not get you out of a ticket, but a belligerent attitude will certainly not help and could get very expensive.
absolutely, this is a JOKE that was Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V'd off the interwebs. it is in no way an open invitation to break the law or irritate those who put their lives on the line to uphold it. a little reminder every now and again that those men and women are people too is never out of place, and thank you for what you've done. now, that wheel doesn't look 18" from the curb....
