I collect hobbies. (that is what my wife says) I collect Coca-Cola memorabilia, do some wood working, run Nitro RC cars/trucks, I and I am getting in to home brewing now.
I will second the "I collect hobbies" answer. Most of which are pricey, space-taking, and rarely finished or operable for that matter (ie: the '66 VW in my garage for 5 years.)
I've got too many as well. Let's see: amateur radio; studying philosophy and Catholic theology (I have an MA in Philosophy and MS in Library Science and work as a librarian); I play guitar and have wound up with a collection of about 11 guitars and 4 amps; I collect books with my wife (we're both librarians and we homeschool, so it's an occupational hazard); homebrewing beer and root beer; and occasional pipe and cigar smoking (I have a small collection of about 9 or 10 pipes and three tobaccos).
Other hobbies ??? Umm.. No, I fill up my flat with shaving gear - I think thats enought.. Sort of.. Did I mention I collect shaving gear as well I guess one could say reading.. I do that a lot.. Does it count as a hobbie..
I'm not sure I can actually consider shaving as a hobby for me but it sure has become an enjoyment. I also hunt and fish and am an avid shooter. However, my most enjoyable hobby is woodturning. Cyril
I read a lot as well. We have several hundred books between my wife and I, but we aren't librarians:ashamed001
Reading Politics Kaywoodie Pipes (with Codger Burlies) Reading Writing Emptying Beer Cans and Bottles Fishing Music (all kinds)
I collect and restore old telephones. I've got about 50 on display so that is my true acquisition disorder.
Birder like, pet birds, or like falconry? I think Falconry is one of the neatest things I will never have the patience to attempt. I get into things for a year or so and then drop them. Currently I spend a lot of time trying to train my puppy. I like to read and try to write sometimes but haven't been very aggressive at either lately. I am an avid cook. I enjoy hunting, but really I just like shooting. From time to time I find myself involved in short film races.
Fly fishing. I used to be a Loop dealer and fish for steelhead three mornings a week before work, but then I moved to TX... Knives. Emerson, primarily... but have done the Benchmade, Spyderco, Strider and Chris Reeve thing, too... but I always come back to Emersons... A few watches... OK, I have fifteen or twenty, but the current wearing stable is a Seiko Black Monster, a Citizen Ti Skyhawk and a G-Shock. ...and, oddly, I play with a yoyo a lot. It makes for great conference call stimulation.
Most things "retro" in general, including but not limited to: Gardening Spinning Flyfishing Falconry Rural Lifestyle Maintenance
Fly fishing and hunting, blacksmithing, woodworking and turning, cooking and good Scotch Whisky. Also pick the 5 string banjo and a little guitar. I used to collect lighters years ago, and more recently anvils. My wife is quite happy that RAD has replaced that one! I also used to restore Willys jeeps and old PU trucks, but only have my one '50 Chevy PU left. The cooking, scotch and picking come easy in a day's time, but the rest, I have to make the time to do. Flyfishing, and hunting are my real escapes, especially when I have the pleasure of fishing in Alaska, or back up a cold stream in the mountains around here (SE). Will N.
