1. Hello everybody,

My name is Dave, and at long last, I am starting to get into wet-shaving.

My story is that my brother-in-law bought me a shave dish and a puck of Cade shave soap from l'Occitane de Provence for Christmas about two years ago. It sat in my linen closet until about a week ago, when I decided that I had sat on it for too long, and I ordered a Tweezerman badger-hair brush from Amazon.

The first shave using just a brush and shave soap was an amazing improvement over previous shaves, and I decided to go all out! I am now waiting on a double-edge razor blade sampler pack from Amazon, and a pre-1950 Gillette Super Speed from ebay.

I would never expect to enjoy shaving so much! Even using my crappy Gillette Fusion blades gave me such a good shave that I was almost (*almost*) disappointed to have such a smooth shave that I couldn't justify shaving the next day!

Now, of course, I am going crazy waiting for my new goods to come in to get an even better shave.

    Dave

  10. Welcome to the Den! It really is more fun this way, not to mention better for your face. Enjoy your shaves!
  11. I had a bit of a rough shave this morning, but the nice thing about the shave soap and the aftershave I use is that after about five minutes the irritation went away.

The biggest thing I'm having trouble with currently is the somewhat "whorled" pattern of facial hair around my adam's apple. Other than "be careful," any good tips for that area?
  12. not really. I've been shaving with a DE for a while now (less than some, more than others) and I still have major problems with my adam's apple. I've had to settle with a stubbly finish for that spot. Anything closer invites major nicks and always ends with irritation- I had this problem when I used cartridges, too so it's not just a DE problem.
  13. Welcome

I hope you enjoy your time here I've learned alot and know you will too!
