Well, after using my dads Parker D/E that he loaned me about two weeks ago, I started looking online for D/E razor of my own. Thanks to the wisdom and experience of TSD members along with my brother and my dad I found and purchased my very first D/E safety razor. It is a 1960 Gillette Fatboy adjustable and I couldn't be happier. This razor came with two Gillette thin blades that seem to work pretty well. On my first shave with the Fatboy I could tell the quality difference right away and made me feel at peace with my recent investment. I started off on a #3 setting and after the third pass WTG I wanted to make it more aggressive so I kicked er on up to a #7 and very carefully finished up my WTG,ATG passes with only two minor weepers and experienced my first BSS! I wanna thank all members for the priceless advice. Thanks so much, Jason
Welcome to TSD! Sounds like you're off to a good start. Maybe try a 4 or 5 setting on the Fatboy. You picked near the ends of the settings people actually use on the Fatboy. I personally like a 4 or 5 on my face (depending on blade) and a 3 on my head.
Welcome to the Den! Come often, stay long, share much. A great bunch of guys, gals, and info 'round here. Have fun! You got yourself a great razor to start with. I'm a 6 on the Fatboy myself. Just may be the only razor you'll . . . awww, who am I kiddin'? Enjoy your shaves!!!
It only gets better from here on, Son. Just wait till the AD kicks in. And you thought racing was addictive! lol
Great Job, glad to hear it went so well! :signs107 Before too long, I'm sure you'll be handing out great shaving advice just like your father and brother do. I know Erik mentioned it already, but be sure to sign up for the February Newbie Give-Away for a chance to win some great shave gear.
