With my limited experiece, probably only have tried twelve soaps and two creams I think Proraso cream provides the best cushioning for my money.
Most shaving items with glycerin or tallow based or perhaps if the item is described as "cushioning" should be fine..cushioning means there is a slick lather feeling which allows the blade to glide with minimal effort
There are folks here that know far more than I do about creams. I'm basically a soap person. I have tried a few over the years and TSD's wheat cream is my favorite. Definitely worth a try.
:sihns011 I use TSD Wheat cream often, definitely my favorite. I use creams fairly often, but I'm not sure I could say which is the "thickest most cushioning shave cream", as a lot of what you end up with can come down to technique on how you lather.
My goodness, the only TSD cream I have is the Iced SSubzero, which is like a frigidly cold blanket. Other very cushiony creams I have are Noxzema Lather, Musgo Real, Barbon, and Solo Menthol. These are just a few that I can think of.
Another thumbs up for the TSD wheat creams. My Victorian Rose creates a superb lather. I am also enjoying the sample of TOBs Sandalwood my coworker gave me. The lather is extremely nice.
