Picked up a 2 oz bottle of Canoe at Wally World for $3 this morning. Somehow I've made it through 40 years of existence without owning a bottle of this 'classic' scent. I'm glad I picked it up. If I had to describe it quickly I'd call it 'a more refined Clubman'. Basenotes describe it as: Top Notes Lavender, Clary Sage, Lemon . Middle Notes Geranium, Carnation, Cedarwood, Patchouli . Base Notes Vanilla, Tonka, Heliotrope, Oakmoss . I think I'll always have a bottle handy from now on.
I 'layered' it with Pinaud Clubman AS this morning. Niiiiiiiiiiice. Luziana_Geezer, check out your local WalMart and see if they have a bottle. Maybe they have the same clearance deal going. I read on Basenotes that Canoe usually puts out a Xmas set there which i will be looking for this next holiday season.
Keep in mind Wal-Marts generally have a few aftershaves in the shaving aisle, but they also have a cologne section elsewhere. AND some even have an extra special hidden clearance section. Basically, you might have to really search for the product. and then you'll find it in the dairy section. :rofl
LOL. Mine wasn't in the shaving section, it was on an aisle near ladies cosmetics that was full of colognes. In fact, I think I turned directly around and found my bottle of Corn Huskers on the facing shelf. It was in a seperate area from the shaving, hair products, pharmacy type stuff. BTW ... which TSD shaving cream would you suggest to use with this from a scent standpoint ?
It's a real babe magnet. I got my first bottle for Xmas from my GF in 1963. Has a very sweet smell with just a hint of macho.
No worries, I'm sure I can pick it up locally. As for a shaving cream to compliment it; basenotes reviews would suggest Brut Type, looks like Bill would suggest Pinaud Type, and I'd suggest any of Canoe's fragrance notes that I carry (ie- Lavender or Lemon or Cedarwood, etc.). With a few exceptions, the shaving cream scent isn't going to hang around after the shave.
all I know is, you DON'T want to smell this canoe after he turns around and sees what's behind him..... (yes, I know it's a kayak, but relevant facts ruin the joke) I vaguely remember having Canoe before, though I can't really recall what it smelled like
