Pretty simple premise, I am doing a poll on who goes to a ladies salon to get their haircut and who goes to a barbershop (newstyle like that sports themed one) or an oldskool barbershop like your grandpa used to frequent. I'll start, I go to a ladies salon!!
I need an "Other" option since I go to a family friend's house and get my haircut. The lady is a retired beautician, but she never worked in a salon.
I go to a old school barber shop. I love the simplicity , comaraderie , and talk of the old school barber shop, its a community you can be a part of every other Saturday and its near my home. My cut costs $10 plus $5 tip , sometime I tip $10, but the recession. I have a 83 years old lady barber, she is SKILLED, the lady can cut.
Yeah I need another option too; I have a FlowBee. All I gotta do is slap the FlowBee on the vacuum and in minutes I am good for another month!
I go to a ladys salon. The young girl that cuts my hair does a great job. It has taken 6 years to find a good place to get a haircut.
I need the Other option also. The wife has cut my hair for the last 10 years or so, before that it was almost always a barber shop (there were a few years in college where I went to a salon, but the lady did a good job cutting hair, and I still had plenty to cut and even style).
Not much hair left up there. What there is gets cut by myself (Brushcut) with my dogs trimmers...They do a :signs107
Ditto, about all I have left is fringe. I keep that under control with weekly Sunday dome shaves. Been doing it that way for probably the last 10-15 years. When I did have enough hair to bother with though, I tended to favor old school barber shops.
I've mentioned Frank, my barber on several posts. It's definitely old-school. I've been going to him since I'm about 10 years old. When he cut my sons hair for the first time he mentioned this was the 4th generation of my family he's cut-my grandfather, father, me, son. He also gave me an old school straight razor shave-it was awesome. I know everybody in the shop-it's really like family to me.
"Other" I use a Wahl hair trimmer. Most of the time I leave my hair 3/4 of an inch on top and around that 1/2 inch, the bottom is 1/4 inch and the edges are 1/16 inch. But when it got warm I shaved my head with a DE and like it. For the summer I may buzz it to 1/16 of an inch up to 1/2 an inch if I'm feeling adventurous.
I've posted about my favorite shop in the past. Been going to the same shop since 1988. It is in what used to be the old hotel (now dorms) on the Clemson University campus. Unfortunately, I think Dennis is on the way to retirement. He has started closing the shop on Saturdays. I think that is going to put me in the "other" category, as I will probably just start buzzing it with the old Wahl clippers I have.
I hate strangers touching me, so I just have long hair. the wife went to hair cutting school. so she trims it when it gets too long.
