Good Afternoon From Steamy South Central Florida! Okay, I have managed to break my redneck scuttle twice now. The first time I slapped the J.B. Weld on it and kept using it. It is broke again, and I can fix it again, or spend another $5.00 and buy a new one. However; is there such a thing as a plastic scuttle? Or any non-ceramic scuttle? I have seen pewter scuttles, but I don't want pewter. I know Google is my friend, but I am getting nothing.
I couldn't imagine that the plastic would transfer the heat well at all. Any sort of ceramic/pottery or metal would be the only thing I can think of working. I doubt anything rubber or wood would transfer heat, either.
Would this work for you? http://ozsoapbox.com/personal/shaving/diy-making-your-own-shaving-scuttle-for-20/
I'd go with another flower pot, and some of that grippy shelf liner/rug liner/jar opener/what IS that stuff called? to keep it from getting knocked off the counter.
Fantasmagoric! I'ma gonna do it! This will be right up there with my laundry supplies dispenser project! Thanks Bro!
I was going to suggest the same webpage, but Greenhorn beat me to it. Just be aware that the Australian Target stores are a completely different company to the US Target and there's no reason to believe that they'd carry the same product lines. OTOH the bowl is "made in China" so it's probably available in any number of different stores.
I have been trying to source the bowl, but the closest I can come is a two piece set for $45.00 at Wally World. i do not see the item listed on the Target site...more reconn is in order.
Don't know if this will help http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4086730 too large but they say smaller bowls are available. http://www.zesco.com/products.cfm?PGroupID=090406SS02&subCatID=1217
On my blackberry so I don't know how to post the link but Metal Exports India sells double wall stainless snack bowls.
The only thing i can suggest is a metal custard cup in a coffee mug full of hot water. Could be smaller than your current rig so it may be able to duck and weave a potential kill shot or two.
Thanks Bro. I saw their site earlier today, but it looked like they were a wholesaler wanting to sell ship loads of bowls.
You may have to do this the old-fashioned way, by actually going to a store and examining the thing. Just browse the kitchenware sections of various stores and I'm sure you'll find something similar.
The last time I was at Target, they had a very small crock pot (about a 2 cup pot). That would make a helluva scuttle I would think. It cost under 10 bucks.
