In the end, I really do prefer shave soaps. (with the inclusion of a few select creams)

I am drawing an even bigger, and more finite conclusion lately.

The ones that tend to work the best for me have the following characteristic:

    CLAY

    However,

What is the difference between bentonite clay, and kaolin clay?

De Vergulde Hand and TGQ (The Gentleman's Quarter), probably two of my top favorite non-stick shave soaps......both have Kaolin. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

    Please discuss ->

    On the real.

I do belive that all natural dose work better for me then the chemical warfare some products do to me.

    Without a doubt.

What are your thoughts on clay?

I have noticed that the performance of the 2 named soaps is awesome, so my answer is that IT WORKS. What one works better. Perhaps a blind taste test.

I run lather experiments all the time.......

Would you happen to know of some shave soaps with bentonite clay, rather than kaolin?

I can't speak to the second batch of shave SOAP, but the one I had lathered like a zombie

The cream, on the other hand was a lather Monster.

    Yes, yes I will.

Actually I made an even newer soap batch, that is getting very very gooood reviews. Some could manage to find it's way to your mailbox for coffee and pre-shave oil.

Oh, and my shaving cream has bentonite clay in it also.

Bentonite clay = kitty litter. Just in case you did not know.

That is a very interesting way to umm...add?...to the discussion.

I can tell you, my Bentonite Clay cost far more than any kitty litter.

I believe Ogalla bay rum soap has betonite clay in it. While I think it's agreed hands down that the lather it produces is close to worthless, it still lays down a very slick layer on your skin and has a great scent.

I don't know if it's the clay that makes it slick, but it's always super slick for me, and a bit of KMF unscented fixes the lather problem.

I use bentonite clay in my soap, it does NOT look like kitty litter, it is a very, fine powder.

Kaolin is also popular in shaving soaps - this clay is good for dry, sensitive or normal type skin.

While Bentonite is good for drawing out impurities and drying oily skin. But most soap makers will add mositurizers, so anyone can really use it.

and I'm unsure what a kosher clay is....

Well, some kitty litters use clay as their main ingredient.

But Bentonite Clay does not equal kitty litter, by any means.

It just seemed the comment wasn't very well placed.
