So I signed up for the Proglide Challange with Gillette and decided to show how fast I can shave with the thing. Got it free in the mail and it's very nice. I know that this razor will get no love in this forum but it really is a good shave. Actually smoothest most comfortable shave with no effort or technique :happy102 I'm not getting paid for this btw. The razor has given me a tug free, very smooth shave 6 times now without any feel of dulling. I just looked at your video, i have got a free Proglide by the mail also, actually i got two one power and one manual. In fact me 2 i like the way it shaves, the only problem is the price of the blades. My opinion is that Mach 3 shaves better than the regular Fusion and almost as good as the Proglide and the blades cost a lot less. A good example, 2 weeks ago Mach 3 blades were on sale here at 10$ the 8 pack, while the Proglide cost 40$ for 8. Btw i also saw your video on Feather Popular vs Fusion power, your pretty hardcore when you shave, it's like your going to war,lol.
35 seconds - not bad I'll have to post a video of my 30 second straight razor shave Let us know how long that cartridge lasts you. If you can get a decent shave in 10-strokes, hey who knows
I also got the free pro glide in june and I took the challenge. I couldn't tell any difference between that and the standard fusion, personally I think they changed the colors around and the fins and thats it. Oh and at Walmart the carts go for 17.78$ for a 4 pack, I'll grow a beard before I pay that. Unless they come up with a way to get 3 months of daily shaving out of each cartridge. Then I still wouldn't use them because of the ensuing razor bumps.
i'm on the 5th shave with the thing, and it's still sharp. I will say that it cuts and feels exactly like the fusion. I do feel that it's a more aggressive razor when going ATG. But going WTG, and XTG it's a very very fast comfortable shave. So the question is, take your time and get a great shave with a DE for pennies a shave, or cut about 8 minutes out of your shave time and 1/2 your weekend spending money Personally,I still think that Mach 3 is best overall bang for your buck, the corvette of cartridges if you will.

The proglide challenge is to shave as fast as you can? Seems like an odd selling point if you ask me. But good video.
I would love for my beard to look like that after 4 days. That is usually me on day 2. Although it gives me an uxcuse to enjoy a shave.
Well since the selling points of the proglide are to give a fast comfortable shave....then I would say that a 30 second shave is exactly the selling point. Challenge you to do a 30 second shave with a DE or straight razor. Wow, that's crazy And i thought my hair grew fast! sums up my whole experience with the proglide you know I would do a blind challenge if i had any more fusion blades. But i'm not going to spend the money on them just to make a video but I would say that if you put a fusion blade on the pro glide and shaved with it, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference...
Jeff - great video! I'll bet it took you twice as long to lather as to shave. I always liked the fusion, so I'd probably like the proglide (although it's no superspeed!). If I'd gotten a freebie, I might actually try it, especially after seeing this. Thanks!
I tried the regular Fusion before and there is a difference between regular Fusion and Fusion Proglide. The regular one gave me a lot of irritation while the Proglide don't. Also the blades are sharper and stay sharp longer. In fact i would say that if you like the regular Fusion but find that the blades get dull too fast i would say go for the Proglide. Yes you will pay more for the blades but at least you will be able to use them a longer period of time, so at the end you might save money.
let me try to re explain my opinion. I must agree with you that the pro glide does feel like a more comfortable shave with the new blade. Though it's hard for me to give a good review due to the fact that I haven't had a Brand new fusion blade in a long long time.... On the other hand I had never had a problem with the blades getting dull on the fusion. When I shaved with it I'd shave with the thing just fine forever....I can go with a fusion blade forever, and not notice that it is getting dull till I put on a brand new one , then I'd notice how dull it was I guess what I'm saying is that the Proglide isn't anything but a fusion with a new blade. The cartridge is the exact same, not sure about blade angle, but the blades are suppose to be thinner. If you did a double blind shave test most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I honestly get the impression that the Proglide is simply something that Gillette had and planned on releasing as a new blade for the fusion. Since they Hydro came out, they where able to repackage the fusion handle a bit, throw a new blade in the same cartridge and call it a whole new razor. the fusion blades, and proglide blades are interchangeable on each handle.... When I shaved with the Proglide it was very smooth and comfortable, bu I also thought I was going to jump higher when I got my first pair of air Jordans....hype effects ya....
In the first still shot, was that Blue Steel, Le Tigre, or perhaps the coveted Magnum?? If you've seen Zoolander you'll know what I'm talking about.
