Hump Day... Arko Shave Stick Simpson Beaufort B1 Feather Portable Head on a iKon Bulldog handle Red Pack Personna (1) Barbasol Arctic Blast Another 5 star shave to start the day. This combo works so well for me, it is killing my RAD. If the shaves stay consistently at this level, I might have to downsize the collection.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 Razor: Merkur Long Handled Progress Blade: Super Iridium Brush: Simpson Colonel X2L Cream: TOBS Avocado A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Proraso Splash Nice DFS shave this morning. This was my first use of Thayer's witch hazel. Thayer's is a good product, and I like the light lemon scent and the absence of the characteristic smell of witch hazel. However, in terms of performance, I don't think it is any better than Dickinson's or the generic witch hazels which are much lower priced. Yeah, I know--Thayer's is not distilled, leaving more of the whatchamacallitoids in the end product. My nose knew, but my face couldn't tell a whole lot of difference. The Proraso splash provided a very fine, refreshing finish.

SOTD Wednesday July 21, 2010 Razor: 11/16 Wostenholm & Sons Pipe Razor Half Hollow Spike Point Soap: Williams Mug Soap Mug: Vintage Old Spice Scuttle: RAB Ceramic Brush: Omega Boar ASB: Nivea Replenishing Aftershave: Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum Great shave this morning with the Pipe. The Williams SS doesn't have much cushion and not a lot of slide either but what it does do is encase the whisker standing it up to be cut. Just trying to see how each product performs for my own understanding of the different soaps and creams. Although the Williams didn't score very well in cushion or slide for that matter, it did provide a very close and even comfortable shave. It will remain one of my favs even though it doesn't have the aristocratic qualities that is expected from the high dollar lathers. (Gotta admit Williams is VERY economical!)
Wednesday July 14 59' FatBoy set on 8 7 Oclock Yellow (3) Home Made PreShave Oil Tweezerman Tabac SS Witch Hazel Proraso, Old Spice Pure Sport 4.8 blades, 4 passes. Shave was better on day 3 of this blade, but still took 4 full passes + to do the job, with extra neck work. All in all, a very nice shave experience.

Lloyd, my friend, I will be shaving with the Super Speed for the balance of this week, and perhaps into the weekend. It is so wonderful of a razor. What took me so long to discover it?
