Thursday, July 22, 2010 Razor: EJ Chatsworth Blade: Super Iridium Brush: Grosvenor LE Soap: Pre de Provence A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Pre de Provence Balm Another DFS shave this morning. I like the Pre de Provence soap but mainly for the scent, I think. It performs well, but I have other soaps that perform equally or even better. The Pre de Provence balm (same intoxicating sage scent as the soap) provided a fine finish. I did notice that when applying the balm, it felt slightly sticky. I had never noticed that before, and attribute it to the under-layer of Thayer's Lemon witch hazel toner, which also contains aloe. I think the aloe might be the perpetrator of the stickiness.
SOTD Thursday July 22, 2010 Razors: 5/8 Joseph Allen & Sons NON-XLL Hollow Point 11/16 Robert Klaas Prussian Full Hollow Spike Point Pre-Shave: Proraso Cream Soap/Mug: Mitchell's Wool Fat Scuttle: RAB Ceramic Brush: Col Conk Barbershop Badger ASB: Nivea Replenishing Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman ASL Great shave this morning with the Joseph Allen that I re-set the bevel on last night. The Robert Klaas Prussian was not so great. Got a great edge on the JA and it was the winner today, delivering a very close and smooth shave. The test shave with the Prussian just didn't cut the whiskers any better than previously. I will have to re-set a new bevel on it as well and see if that helps. As far as my honing, looks like I batting .500 right now. The MWF provided a very slick lather with a lot of glide for the razor. I wouldn't say it had a lot of cushion though. My observations with the soaps and cream will continue. The MWF is an excellent soap and the lack of cushion didn't seem to be a problem with getting a very comfortable shave from it. MWF is still one of my favs and will definitely be in my rotation. Have a great shave and day Gentlemen! :happy005
From the shaves you're getting with that Super Speed, and the face freeze from your Bollywood beauties, I think you might be enjoying yourself a little too much !!...)
