No I don't know the maker of the brush it says on the handle "cutlery world" which I know was a mall based cutlery store and I know they sold everything from swords to kitchen knives to nunchucks. I was there in my teens and bought a pair of chucks at that time I wasn't interested in shaving. I am almost embarassed or proud to say that I only spent 25 dollars. Do you guys think it's a silver tip brush?
No. From the picture I'd say it looks like what EJ calls "Best Badger". That is basically one price level up from pure badger. But don't be discouraged, price and shaving experience aren't perfectly correlated. In badger grades we tend to associate more expensive grades with being better, but it's more a matter of rarity and personal preference.
And it all depends on what you are wanting and expecting from the brush. The $9 Shea Badger brush is a nice little brush that performs very well and at the same time you'll see people selling their hundred dollar plus brush because they just don't care for it. Sterilize the brush. Try the brush. Make your own judgment on the brush. Send it to me if you don't like it! :happy102
Wow! That was fast. I ordered them on Saturday, September 4th. 9 days from China? That is even faster then receiving my goods from GB to Latvia. Two Frank Shaving badger brushes, both with 23mm knots. The one with white (faux ivory) handle is in Best Badger, the other with yellow handle (butterscotch?) is Silvertip. Very nice packaging. China image you say? They look very decent, feel heavy. Gotta test them for a while. Sorry for bad cell-phone photos. Maybe will make better ones at home.
Don't apoligize...The photos look great enough to get me drooling :drool A Stunning Pair, my friend...I hope they serve you as well as they look...
Beautiful Haul...My Gillette 1952 Steel Model 'Black Tip' Super Speed is one of the best shavers I've ever met; I love it and trust it with my face......I'm looking forward to hearing how you and yours get on...Its looks great... And so does everything else...Beautiful brush, Adjustable, Old Spice Mug....But As you can tell, I've been smitten by the Steel Black Tips...I've been lucky enough to have a few really pristine vintage Gillettes, now and when they weren't vintage.. Adjustables, injectors, TTO's... But for some inexplicable reason my '52 'Black Tip' just "Takes the Cake"...I'm curious if its just a freak, or if they were all like that...
Love the cup with the ship. I do have a weakness for old ships though, I have a clipper ship tattooed on my forearm.
Finally! An Injector Model F! YAY! Happy Tuesday From Florida! After months of looking, bidding, and losing, I finally scored an Injector Model F! I paid more than I wanted to, but less than I was prepared to pay. The last one I was bidding on got up to $51.00, and I am fairly certain that another TSD member took that one home... I know that I have set a $10.00 limit for myself on buying vintage razors, but I had to have the Model F, so I plunked down $26.00 shipped. $26.00 might seem like a lot, but considering people pay higher prices for the more common FatBoy, I think it was an okay deal. What do you think? Oh yeah and Dale; I will shave with this tomorrow, I promise!
