I know that this belongs in The Haul Thread...but it will get lost there, and Rudy's Art deserves front and center attention... So anyway, awhile back, OldAf posted about how He Is The Injector Killer and had broken the handles off a few razors. This got me to thinking about how Rudy Vey has delivered several beautiful brushes to TSD members...so I thought; what can Rudy do for me? The result my friends, is my very own Rudy Vey Custom Schick Injector G! I bought an Injector G (which is arguably the best shaving injector) on fleabay for $4.00, Dremeled the handle off and sent the razor head to Rudy, requesting a handle to be turned and set on to the head in my favorite color, which is purple, and this is what he did for me! Sweet! It is lumpy and bumpy and purple, just as I requested! Thanks Rudy! <EDIT> = So here it is! YAY! I can't wait to shave with it! It measures 5.5 inches long and the handle is 2.5 inches in circumference. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but the acrylic has an iridescent luster to it, sort of like a shooting marble. Also, if you look close, this injector does not have the locking bumps under the spring, so I can rotate the spring out of the way for deep cleaning if I want. Dale = I will shave with it tomorrow, I promise!
Now that is unique and colorful; it looks like one of those all day suckers at Disney World. Nice job:signs021
Plus, if you can see it in the pic...the finish on the head is kind of crackling, not smooth and shiny... Kind of like a Rat Rod painted flat black...it just oozes coolness I Love It!
Thanks ya'll. I did get so excited that I was going to pee my pants waiting for it to show up so I could post it, so yes, I did jump the gun and post Rudy's picture of it. Hopefully it will be here today so I can post more pictures and report on the dimensions and of course, how it shaves!
Have you stocked up on blades yet? Best price I found for the Schick blades was from Hocks.com. I just haven't been all that impressed with the Pella/EMS/ASR PTFE coated blades.
Jeff someone referred to the textured head on these razors as a "stucco" finish. I don't know if that is the popular label but it is descriptive. Also, years ago while living in Fla my first job was with a national company that made cereals among other things. One of the new products at that time was called "SIR GRAPEFELLOW. Reminds me of a name for your new creation along with Rudy V.:happy096
Yeah, I bought up a bunch of the CVS packs for a buck each when they were discontinued. Also, I bought a bunch of these: http://www.appletonbarbersupply.com/store/shopexd.asp?id=391 they do not have the injector key so you have to load it into an old key, but they shave okay, are cheap, and I have to fiddle with the keys anyway, so it really is not too much of a hassle. They sell the blades with the key here: http://www.appletonbarbersupply.com/store/shopexd.asp?id=381 the trick to shopping at Appleton Barber is to buy a bunch of stuff to fill the box because shipping is [SLASH]410.00[/SLASH] $10.00 whether you buy a little or a lot. I will check out Hocks though. Thanks Dale! Sir Grapefellow...yanno, you are on to something there! I like it. Thanks!
