Got my first boar brush in the mail today. when I first saw it I thought that the handle looked really cool. I spent most of the day today cleaning it because it does have a funky smell. seems to lather pretty well specially with an Arko stick I stuffed in a bowl. cant wait to try it tomorrow. omega boar brush from shoebox very nice heavy duty handle. 12 bucks. Now I have to find a nice Fall/Winter soap to go with it.
Looks great. Give it some time to break in. It will provide super shaves. :happy096 I have a couple of boars and a couple of badgers. I really prefer boars.
Just don't go and do anything ridiculous to break it in! I've heard stories... Lathering on bricks, sandpaper, cinderblocks, lathering with chemicals... Just use it to lather a good shampoo and conditioner a few times, then wait for nature to run it's course... You should love it! Cheers, Jeremy
Wait... Doing what with a straight razor? I'm confused how anyone can combine a brick and a straight razor and expect a positive outcome... Unless you're talking about the sandpaper and hand-sanding the blade... I didn't mean that they sanded the bristles/handle, just that they whipped up lather on the sandpaper... Sorry if I caused confusion, and sorry for derailing the thread :ashamed001
Pretty Good this brush has really Impressed me. first of all I though Boar Brushes where suppose to be scratchy, if they are this one is not. I noticed that the tips are very soft. I now know what people mean when they talk about a brush having a back bone. this brush is really nice. The handle seems to be some kind of dense wood I thought it was oak, but someone mentioned it looks like beach wood. the handle feels solid and heavy, I really like it. I also have the infamous shea brush but that brush is floppy and scratchy. I think I like this omega boar a lot more. I also noticed that it easily makes a nice lather with no air bubbles. I tried it out with different creams and soaps yesterday and I think I had never produced such an air free smooth cream until having used this brush. I will have to do some more testing. I will do some lathering comparisons with my over stuffed 26mm silver tip and compare the two creams.
After only two days of using this brush I must admit I really like it. it whipped up a quick air free lather. the tips are definitely very soft. and one of the best features is that it gives me is a degree of control I just do not get with my silver tip, in the sense that when applying the lather to my face I can maneuver around my nose, side burns, and ears with out covering them up with cream.
Man, you just don't know the fun you're missing out on by not slathering up the nose and in the ears :happy102
