My newly assembled travel shave kit

After my last trip and failing to assemble a DE travel kit, I took the advice of many and assembled my new DE travel kit and have been using it while in Nawlins this week.

I found a NOS travel razor in ebay for 21.50. It still had the paper packing blade in the razor and the real blades are still shrink wrapped. Someday I will crack it open and use the vintage blades but I'm not ready to do so yet.

I picked up another Shea Moisture Ultimate Shave Brush at Target for 8.99.

Walgreens pharmacy was nice enough to give me a large bottle for my brush. They only had the pink Breast Cancer lids so that's what I got.

I picked up "three tubes for 10.00" of C.O. Bigelow at Bath and Body Works. Using one tube for my travel kit.

I learned how to lather up on my face at TSD so along with that technique and my newly assembled kit, I've been enjoying my shaves while on the road!

Ive never tried a travel razor before. how does it shave. I would take my regular razor . how much more space and weight is it really going to add. nice kit though.

Thanks for sharing Rich. Did you poke holes in the lid? Are you face lathering?

That is a super price for a brush. What kind of knot is that?? It doesn't look like boar - can't be badger for 9.00?

(The OP asking about holes - make sure you poke some there. I killed a brush really good a year or so ago using a pill bottle without holes. Ick!)

That's the now-somewhat famous Shea Moisture brush from Target.. Pure Badger and a joy to use.

It shaves just fine - its a tech - but the handle is tiny and a little awkward. I suppose a regular razor would be just fine. I just wanted an "official" DE travel razor

They are available at some Targets. Shea Moisture is a brand targeted for African Americans so you have to find a Target in an area with a diverse population.

They are wonderful Badger Brushes as MikekiM says.

I did poke holes in the lid and I am face lathering - a technique I'm really liking!

That brush looks like something I'd love to get my mitts on. Unfortunately, I am up in Canada, and regardless of the diversity of the neighbourhood I go to, there ain't a darn Target in site!! :(

I really enjoy the VDH Deluxe soap too and am half way through my last puck. Somehow, I gotta get me butt over the border to a Target!!! But, that won't happen for a long time. Oh well. Something to dream about!!

Keep your eyes on the forums here. from time to time folks hit pay-dirt on a trip to Target and buy a bunch of those brushes for resale here at cost, just for the folks, like yourself, who can't find them.

Send me a PM and we can make arrangements for me to send you a brush and some soap.

That is very, very generous!!!! I know a guy on these boards, WCHNU - I like to call him the "FUzzMeister!!" and he very generously offered to send me a puck of the VDH!!!! I took him up on the offer as we have exchanged stuff previously - and, I am desparate for some VDH!!!!

However, I would NEVER look a gift horse in the mouth! If we can sort out getting one of those brushes up here in the Great White North, I will definately send you a PM!!!!

    thnx - PM coming!!!

I have one, and it rivals some pretty darn good ($60+) silvertip brushes I've used.

BTW, you can always order one directly from Shea Moisture.
