Budget Creams

  1. Gotta go with C.O Bigalow - 4 large tubes for $20. Lasts forever. KMF for superlather is something like $0.69 per oz. Definitely need to give Gada a try for that price. What chain carries this in CAN?

    +1 for Dalan d'men.

Received a tube from Joe at Shave A Buck and absolutely love how well it shaves and smells. I'm a soap guy so the cream was new to me and I had some trouble getting a good lather. I would whip it up and watch the lather disappear before my eyes. Maybe unconventional but what works best for me is to use it brushless. I apply it to my face and use my fingers and some water to make a wonderful thin but very slick and protective lather. I will be ordering more once the freezing weather tapers off.

Dalan, Arko, and for a touch more the Bigelow. Yeah I got in on the 4 tubes for $20.00 deal too. :)

I have and occasionally use the Godrej Menthol and Lime creams, and while it performs great for its price point, there is just something synthetic to the scent that carries across the whole line to me.

The Body Shop Maca Root gets a high vote from me, and I also would mention KMF with an added kick in vote from the wife on it :D

I have been curious about Arko for a while and I have heard similar complaints about Arko's scent to the one you have made about the Godrej. In terms of protection, skincare etc how do they compare?

It has been a while since I've used either, but IIRC they are both similar in performance, maybe an edge going to the Godrej for skincare because of the lanolin it has.

Can't say I recall a synthetic scent from the Arko, my biggest problem is the odd naming they have, you would think something with Cool in the name would have menthol in it.

At least with the Godrej, with either the Menthol Mist or Lime, that is the scent you get plain and simple.

    Of course like everything, YMMV.

I just got some of the RS cream. Have to say it's really nice stuff for only 5 bucks.I also vote for the Bigelow. Usually get the specials of big tubes , by two, get one free.

Edge Shaving Cream, yes they do make goo in a can, but they also have a brushless shave cream for 2.99 and only in certain Targets. You can also use the cream with soaps. This cream is very moisturizing and has a little bit of coolness in it. Also has some ingredients that I don't think their canned gels have.

From eastern Europe, there is also Solo Menthol and Regular, (Romania) D'amaris Royal and Classic, (Romania) which are Palmolive products, and very good, then there are the Eveline creams, which are made in Poland for the Russian and Ukrainian markets and fantastic. I think that Wars and Pollena Lider are gone permanently.

    Dr. Sheffield's Brushless Shave Cream

Yeah it's brushless but it works great. For $1.50 a 4.5 oz tube ($1 on sale), it can't be beat.

I stocked up on a few of the WARS but yes, WARS and the Lider seem to be gone.

This, purely because they're the only creams I seem to be able to find locally. It's all fine and well being able to get some cream online for $2-3, but when you slap on $6.95+ shipping on it...

Any cream from Eastern Europe is good enough and dirt cheap, but Solo is a Bulgarian cream, I believe, are you sure ?

It is difficult for me to say. It is used in Bulgaria perhaps, in fact it is marketed in Bulgaria, as well as in the neighbors of Bulgaria, such as Macedonia, Croatia, and other countries, but I am not really able to say where the cream actually is produced. :)

Oh my, the Palmolive classic smells so nice! It's a shame they don't sell the menthol one here as well, only the classic and sensitive.

I thought they did. I know Croatia has it, Serbia has it as well, even in Poland, you can get this menthol Palmolive. :)

Nope, not here. :( I could only find the classic and sensitive variations. And I checked many stores on Friday.

The only place I haven't checked and that could possibly have it is E.Leclerc in Ljubljana.
