Who has one and what do you think? I'm really pleased with my boars and my badgers but I'm thinking that maybe the blend is optimal. Anyone know anymore badger/boar blend brushes? I know Col. Conk has one too but it doesn't seem like there are many options on blends. So. Whuh chall think? Any insight is appreciated my fellow Denizens
If it soaks long enough, it's wonderful.. also in hot water. Anything less than hot and less than a minute has given me bad results. It works beautifully with MWF.
I have one. My progression of impression: When I first heard of blend brushes, I wanted to try one. Found the Grosvenor (only one I knew of, didn't know about Col Conk, time to research....), placed the order, and could barely contain myself in wait. Opened the package, pulled out brush - hmmm, nice hefty weight, feels solid, but wait....my, my, that's a tiny knot! A little disappointing, but I can't wait to try it.... A long soak, a shampoo, a rinse, and another soak....decide to go for the gusto (whatever that means), pulled out the MWF, swirl-swirl-lather-lather....wow, pretty darn good! Applied lather....man, this knot is really small. Not sure if this will work out long term.... Fast forward to a couple weeks ago.... Been giving some "neglected" equipment some game time, and decided to pull out the Grosvenor. Dude, have you been working out in the off-season? Still smallish, but seems fuller. Lathered like a mad lathering thing. Has turned out to be a very nice brush after giving it enough use. Gotta give the boar bristles enough break-in time, but it's an excellent brush.
I just ordered one from Diamond Edge in England. Should get here in 10 days or so. I have read Fido and Bruce Everiss and others praise the brush so I want to see for myself , its inexpensive so it will be great to play with . I am partial to boar brushes so the mix sounds interesting. I have never read anything bad about this brush. I also ordered a horse/boar mix brush made for barbers by Vie Long from the Spanish seller Gifts and Care. Again, very inexpensive way to see if this combo will work , confident it will.
Got mine about a month ago. It has needed extra soaking time and "breaking in time." I am just now starting to get excellent results from it. All in all, the wait and patience has been worth it. The 404 is a very good value/performance buy.
