My first experience with TRSC was with their Classic Moisturizing shave cream. I was very impressed. So much so, that I ordered all 4 of their shaving creams from their website.

I thought I'd start a discussion for anyone who has tried TRSC's shaving cream(s).

So far, I have tried both of their Moisturizing shave creams.

    The Classic

    Evolution

The difference is night and day. The lather from the Evolution one is horrible. Yet the ingredient list isn't that different from the Classic version. I'll post the ingredients in a bit.

The lather from the Classic is nearly instantaneous and requires a little amount of product.

The lather from the Evolution is quite lackluster, regardless of how much product is used. It also has a sort of odd plastic-y feel to it.

    Classic Moisturizing = 5 Stars
Evolution Moisturizing = maybe 2 Stars

    Next up is;
Sensitive - from the Classic line
    SensitiveClassic.jpg

and Menthol - from the Evolution line

Not to judge it before trying, but I have a feeling if I want menthol TRSC shave cream, I'll have to do it myself. :(

I read that the new line wasn't up to snuff, now I know what to get when I put in my order one day. Thanks for the review.

Outside of scent I find TRSC classic moisturizing as good as any of Creighton's creams. I don't find the scent worth 3-6X the cost, so yes it's a winner. Thank-you for the report on the evolution, I won't seek it out. Curious about the others as you review them.

Actually, I reeeeeally like the scent of the classic moisturizing. My nose isn't the best at detecting the fragrance notes - but whatever it is, I like it!

Rite-Aid drug stores carries these products. That's where I bought the RSC Sensitive (from the Classic line). I didn't particularly care for it and after using it 3 times, I PIFed it away. But as with everything else in this bloodsport we call wet shaving, your mileage may vary.

I really like the scent, too. It's just some kind of generic cologne scent to me. No notes or too many notes to decipher.

No Rite Aids in this area, unfortunately.
I haven't tried the Sensitive yet, but at this point I would not be surprised if I didn't like it as much as the Classic Moisturizing.

TRSC seems to be a bit odd. The Evolution name I'm using came from their website and the order confirmation they sent me, but it is not on the cream tube at all.

Yeah, the way to tell the Evolution line (sold online and at Duane Reade in NYC) seems to be to look for the no Parabens statement on the front. I like the scent of the evolution moisturizing, but agree that it is just ok, and have been using it mainly brushless. I have also tried the two evolution gels, each of which has quite different ingredients from the other. The one with beads is just an ok performer as well, but also like the smell. It does turn white, but that is the extent of its lathering. The Evolution Super Slick Gel gave me incredible results (without a brush), and it lathers not at all. It is propylene glycol based and you just put a tiny amount on your moistened face and let it sit for three minutes. I got a really, really close shave with no irritation.....It is the standout, if you can accept a different way of using it. With a brush, the classic ones (sold at Rite Aid and online) are the only way to go.

The Shoppers drug marts here have TRSC. They do not have any of the evolution they only have the classic line. I am not sure if they are currently phasing it out. I bought two of the menthol ones, the lather was great and is now my go to cream that is locally accessible. The one negative is that the menthol in it wasn't apparent to me. I could smell the menthol a tad but couldn't feel nearly as much as i like. Is the evolution line marketed as a brush cream or brush less?

The menthol is part of the evolution line.

I don't think either of the lines are marketed as brush creams or brushless.

Hmm interesting. Doesn't say Evolution on it or have the same label. The label is identical to the Classic except says menthol.

those are what mine looks like. Doesn't have the number, just says professional. Must have changed packaging or the pictures.

I posted pics above of each tube. They should be visible to everyone.

If we are talking shaving cream, their website doesn't list a Classic Menthol. I am not familiar with the company's history however, and maybe they did make a change.

I tried the older version of the menthol cream from RSC, and it has great lather and skincare, but there is hardly any cooling effect.

Ya I think either they changed. Or they have the evolution line and a classic line. I have the classic one, doesn't have the same front and has different ingredients. I am happy i got the classic as the evolution menthol is apparently a low foam formula.

Edit: i just check online and the evolution has almond oil and other ingredients that the classic is missing.

I got my samples from JoAnna yesterday so this morning began my appraisal.

Menthol Evolution: couldn't get it to lather. Was afraid it was going to screw my brush up; Hairs were stuck together in clumps. No foam, not even bubbles. Probably better as a non-lather smear than cream. I aborted after I applied it to my face and had no lather at all. There was only a slight menthol tingle too. :(

Regular Sensitive: Good scent, slightly less in performance than Regular Moisturizing. Great shave not counting the Evo portion of the shave. :D

So far, I'm just not digging the Evo stuff. In nature things evolve and it isn't always for the best. Hopefully nature will take care of the Evo Menthol on its own.

I'll see how the Evo Moisture is tomorrow. At least I'm sorta confident I can get it out of my brush.

    The score:

    Regular: 2, Evo: 0

Not too bad, everything cleaned up nicely.

So, yesterday I figured out that regular sensitive works nearly as well as regular moisturizing does. And, I'm happy to report that the Evo variety of moisturizing works pretty well too. Maybe the Evo menthol is broken or they pulled from the bottom of the batch or something, but the Evo moisturizing is at least an 8 if regular moisturizing is a 10. It smells good and lathered good too. It may even be as good as regular because I'm still getting used to my Grosvenor and that could account for the variance.

So, having used all 4 varieties, I must say that, IMO, they are all pretty decent with the exception of the Evo menthol.

    Final tally, Regular:2, Evo: 1.

YMMV, please try them all, you may like them and/or have different experience than I did.

My experience did vary with the Moisturizing Evolution.

It HAD to have been better than the menthol, right? The menthol just didn't do anything for me but the Evo moisturizing was similar to the regular.

What's your take on the Evo moisturizing Jo? Or any of the other varieties :D

Based on my experience with the Evo moisturizing, I've actually put off trying the menthol. But I will.

My take on the Evo moisturizing? ummmm.....I started this thread. :) My general, not-too-in-depth take is in the first post.

You know, I read that before too....:ashamed001

I think you'll really like the Evo moisturizing after you try the Evo menthol :think002, if the Evo moisturizing is a 2, the menthol is a zero, unless negatives are allowed. It was like trying to lather lotion.
