1. Muehle Sophist Silver Tip
    Arko Citrus Shave Cream
    Gillette Old (My Grandfather's razor)
    Treet Black Beauty Blade
    Virgin Island Bay Rum
Pre De Provence Shea Butter After Shave

First time shaving with my grandfather's razor. Used the old style Black Beauty Carbon Blade to get an experience like my grandfather had. Very, very close BBS shave. Iwas not used to the angle of the Gillette Old, but will have it down after a couple more shaves.

Today's shave proved to me, once again, technology has done nothing to improve quality of shaves. A sharp single blade, whether a straight, double edge or single edge; good quality lather, proper face preparation, good technique, and proper after care make for a great shave and excellent skin care!

    Razor: Wilkinson Sticky
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: Simpson Douglas
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Cream: TOBS Avocado
    A/S: Acca Kappa Cedar Splash

A quick and easy shave this morning followed by a refreshing splash of Akka Kappa Cedar aftershave. I am now ready to tackle my taxes. :sad023
  3. An HD with an Astra - I love that combo! :signs154 by the way
  4. Saturday, March 26, 2011

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Razor: 1956 Gillette Red Tip Superspeed
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: Vulfix 2006 Pure Badger
    Soap: P.160 Tipo Duro
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Splash

An outstanding, smooth, close, and comfortable shave this morning! The Red Tip is an excellent razor, and I should use it more often. However, I've become rather partial to longer handled razors. I think the Red Tip/Iridium combination is a perfect one for me--I had forgotten how smooth the Iridium is. The P.160 is a good soap, but I think I like Cella even better. However, hours later, my face still feels smooth, so I won't quibble about soap. I do think the Red Tip will be making guest appearances in my rotation more frequently in the future.

    WOW Whatta Shave!

Considering my less than stellar shave yesterday, I was going to skip shaving until Monday, but I got the J.M. Frasier cream today and just had to try it out. I am glad I did!

I received a sample of J.M. Frasier's cream awhile back from an internet order and did not think very highly of it. Anyone that has seen my straight shave video knows that I use A LOT of product to create my lather; I have gnarly hard water and need more product than what is considered normal. The sample I had was not enough product to make a good lather. I met up with Williams Warrior / Keith to do the Appleton Barber hand-off and he gave me a tub of the J.M. Frasier cream. WOW! Is this stuff ever slick! Very Nice! This cream is right up there with AOS and TOBS in terms of slickness and cushion. I will buy more!

Second shave with the new VDH Luxury brush and soap, and this time I tried bowl lathering in my scuttle, loading the brush went better this time as the soap has now gripped the apothecary mug.

The brush lost no hairs its second outing, and bowl lathering this new soap was easy, which providing me a great overall shave. :happy005

I have a feeling I may be mistaken about the 7 AM blade, because although it gave me a very close shave, it seemed to be quite a bit rougher than yesterday, so I may have to change it the next time I use this razor. ;) :D

  19. Glad you enjoyed it! Now if I can get this Master soap to keep from doing it's magic trick and disappearing as soon as I put it on my face it will be awesome, at least in scent anyway.
