Afta

Has anyone tried AFTA. I use if on and off for years. Cheap and seems to do a good job. It use to come in a white bottle sport scent, but I haven't seen that in a while. Just curious what others might think.

 

I used it a long time ago. I did not really care for the scent, but I think it did a good job. If it were available in an unscented version I would use it again.

 

In my area the original scent is only available in the pre-shave verson while fresh is the only aftershave scent available. I love the original scent and am wondering if the pre-shave can be an effective aftershave. I'll spent the few bucks and get it but curious if others have tried the "pre as an after" before.

 

Poraso, 3P and Prep are all sold as both pre and post shave balms, so I imagine you could do the same with Afta? Although as I recall the Afta pre-shave is sort of like Williams Electro Shave...made for shaving with electrics, except Electro is liquid and Afta is a sort of lotion?

 

I seem to remember AFTA as being sold as an electric shave aftershave not a nonelectric shave aftershave

 

I totally forgot about the stuff, then one day I saw a SOTD of Dashmaverick's (Anthony) and went out and picked up a bottle of each, including the pre-shave.

For the price it works remarkably well, and I like both scents so its win win!

Yeah, they made both, one for Electrics and one for wet shaving...I never tried the 'lectric one but I used to dig the Balm...In fact it is probably the first balm I can remember using...more decades ago than I care to count...

 

I have a special place in my heart for Afta (especially the Fresh scent) because it was one of, if not the first, aftershaves I ever used. Every time I smell it I get a flashback to those days. I'll probably always have it in my rotation.

 

I like Afta preshave, and bought a bunch of it...

when I was shaving with an electric razor.

Does anyone use this as a pre-shave for blade shaving?
I think I may try that sometime.

 

I know, total necro-posting, but I just 'returned' to my Afta today and must say I rather liked it.
Nice moisturing effect and I even like the scent.

I used to use Afta when I shaved with carts and canned goo. I don't get any irritation with DE and Str8s, so I am more of an A/S splash instead of balm guy now. I also don't ant to be reminded of those dismal days.
