    Thanks.

Had to chuckle thinking about your bowl full of lather and the fun you were having with it. I know the feeling :happy088 If I don't have enough lather for five or more passes, I feel cheated :D

    Hot Shower
    Arko Shave Stick
    Omega 10029 Baby-Pro boar
    1965 Gillette Adjustable @9//Rapira Super Stainless/Day1
    1955-58 Eversharp Schick I2 Hydro Magic//CVS-Personna/Day2
Arko Nem moisturizer/Arko Aqua AS splash

Today I decided to have a "shave off" between the 1965 Slim @9 and the 1955-58 Schick I2 Injector...
Started from left sideburn to jaw line with the Schick...Felt like a bladeless razor being used as a squeegee to wipe the thick lather off...inspected the stroke path...BBS, no need for another pass from left sideburn thru jaw line...
Now Slim @9, from right sideburn thru jaw line...Felt like a very sharp blade being pulled down my face, but not irritating, but demanding respect...inspected stroke path...path respectably cleared from side burn over cheek, but near and thru jaw line in need of another pass. And a little razor buffing would have fixed it. Didn't want to buff on #9. So I reapplied a little lather on right cheek to Jaw line and did an ATG just to clear the lather, and I still needed a slight touch-up on jaw line, nothing major.

But my left sideburn thru jaw line had been absolutely polished with one stroke of the Schick...I'm convinced the Slim would have done a Barber-Shop quality BBS, with 3 passes, and maybe a little touch-up, and a close attention to detail...No big deal..I like take 3 leisurely passes plus touch-up..And it probably would have gotten a rave review from me...But I relathered my right cheek and finished my shave with the Schick...one WTG pass and one ATG pass, just on my throat to jaw line...and the results were steller...and soooo easy...and my skin feels as if a blade never touched it...:)

I have to give the "Hot Knife Through Butter" Award to the Schick Injector...But if no Injector were available, the Slim on #9 would have certainly done an admirable job...:)

Shave Of The Day - April 28th, 2011

    • Hot Shower
    • Vintage Butterscotch Horse Hair Brush
    • TSD Soap ~ Monkey Farts Scent
    • Lord L6 Razor
    • Gillette 7 O'clock Permasharp Blade ~ Day 7

    • Osage Rub ~ :freezing :freezing :freezing
    • TSD Soap ~ 2X Iced Monkey Farts Scent ~ :freezing :freezing :freezing

First time I think I've ever pushed a blade out to 7 shaves, but the Permasharp still works well, not pulling or tugging, just seems to take a little extra work than the prior shaves.

Still gonna call it 4.5 blades! :)

    Razor: Le Grelot 6/8
    Strop: Ambrose Spanish Horse 25/50
    Brush: Plisson #12 pur blaireau
    Lather: Dr. Selby + Lavanda
    Astringent: Alum
AS: Martin de Candre huile de coprah
    EdT: Czech&Speake Oxford&Cambridge
Summary: The "exotic" shaving soap is form Uruguay, the Dr. Selby easy gives cushioned, slick and comfortable lather. The lavender scent is fresh and spicy, as the leafs of the plant, I have paired Selby with the portuguese Lavanda athat is a bit warmer. The brush is the low-cost range of Plisson (if this is possible) and it's exfoliant and scratchy, better to use painting strokes than swirls in the face. The Martin de Candre aftershave is greasy, not very good for me.

It looks like I will soon have some more Rapiras--damn, do I ever LOVE those blades. The Solo Menthol cream is so nice--the scent is gorgeous, the lather is super-rich and creamy, and the skincare is A-1. The menthol effect is very light, but the Vifrex gel really intensifies it. ;) :D

    Thursday - another day closer

    Prep: Hot shower
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Rwanda, BLACK
    Soap: TSD English Fern
    Brush: Vulfix 406, the Burlington
    Razor: '62 Slim Adjustable @ 6
Blade: Rainbow, day 4, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Thayers Rose Petal WH, hand strop blade
    'Stache Wax: Firehouse Wacky Tacky

    Shave Rating: 4 Blades

Not too crazy about this blade. The final results are good enough, it's just a bit rough getting there. Not as smooth a shave as other blades have given me. So now I'm debating about tomorrow - use the blade one last time to finish out the week (as is my SOP), or pick up the Schick Injector? Decisions, decisions :D

Your right!! What's more concerning is that I didn't even notice that. I may need help. If it makes you feel any better I swabbed my face with Alcolado Glacial before I went to sleep last night. Anybody else do that? Just for the sensation as I fall asleep, it's very nice.
Another thing is the Jack Black Beard Lube does have a bit of Menthol in it. For the likes of me and you it's not enough to really count as Menthol.
