  1. So, what single edge models should I look to get as my first Gem type single edge and my first injector type?
  2. If it was me...I'd get either the 1912 or that 1900 Lather Catcher like Danny's which has captured my fantasies. Or the 1910 Lather Catcher like "etoyoc"'s, or Slivovitz's Kempfe Cru Steel, or Gem Junior Bar....I'm a sucker for the Lather-Catchers...:)
And for injectors...They are all such consistantly good shavers...It depends on where on the aggressive scale you want to fall...E most aggressive and G a little milder... I2 in the middle, J1 like the 'I' but with long skinny handle..J3 Golden 500 getting pretty mild, and then L's maybe more on the mild side...But when an Injector is on the mild side its different than a DE on the mild side...And I think they all shave great...Stingrays has been diggin' the L's lately... You like adjustables in your DE's so you might want an M type, thats the injector adjustable...

I tell you what...Maybe pick the one you like the looks of best and if you want more or less aggressive action you know which way to go...:)
  3. Some Favorites

I've ended up with more injectors and SE razors than I intended, although now that I have them, I want them all. A photo I put on B&B of all my injectors (well I forgot one) was a cluttered mess, and I have roughly the same number of SEs.

    Here, instead, is a selection.

    Top: Two Auto-Strops
Middle: Kampfe Star, Gem Junior Bar, Kampfe Cru-Steel, Gem Damaskeene Open Comb, Gem Junior
Bottom: Schick Type A, Schick Revereware, Schick Grip, Schick Type D
  4. Nice:happy096, Can we get a close up of that beauty. That razor just went to top my list of needs to buy.:D
  5. Here's another picture of the two. Both are great shavers, effective but surprisingly easygoing. The Junior Bar feels a lot like a Gem 1912, although maneuvering it under the nose takes a little practice. I use a metal handle from an Ever-Ready 1914 to shave with it, just because I don't want to be getting that old wooden handle wet all the time.

  6. wow! they are both beauties...They deserve a place at the top of many a "must-have" list...
And on the subject of razor porn...that is quite a provocative shot don't you think ?
  7. Alright...Stingy...Now you've christened the G2 Goldie...whats the buzz...how would you stack it up to your other Schick favs...and where does it fall on the aggression scale ?

It's one of the only designer Schick Injectors so inquiring minds want to know...:)
  8. Right On Mang! Goldie shaves like any other G that I have used; slightly aggressive I would say. Very audible hair removal happening for sure. BBS in 3 passes with some blade buffing at the end. normally to go BBS with the Type L like the Schick Stick or Schick Grip it would take four passes with some buffing in the stubborn areas under my jawline.

In the end, I think that Goldie may end up with the same fate as the Type-F in that I shaved with it once or twice and now it sits in the razor rack supervising the other razors waiting for their turn in the rotation. This is pretty much what has happened with Sir Grapefellow too. Normally I prefer an aggressive razor, but the G, not so much.

  13. I want to hear more from our "Roving Reporter" Stingraysrock...lean, mean, and on the scene...Bringing us the latest, up to the minute, shaving news, reviews...From our shaving mews...

Come on Stingster...Pick a featured SE or Injector to review this week...

And would any anothers of our Injector, SE intelligentcia care to stand up and be heard...I love reading reviews from you guys I know, because I kind of understand where U R coming from, because I know what you have been shaving with from your SoS posts...I dig it and I think everybody digs it...
  14. Okay! Well today I grabbed the Gillette Injector. They are seldom seen and when you can find one they sometimes go for $30 or $40. I got mine for $7.00 because the seller thought it was a Gillette Trac II. I could tell by looking at it that it was not a Trac II because I could see a tiny little portion of the injector key way.

Anyway, I shaved with it today and it is a fairly mild razor, certainly more mild than the Type L. I loaded up a fresh EMS blade and obtained a 5 Blade, Off The Hook, Bang A Gong, Inter-Galactic BBS Bliss Shave today in four passes.

The Gillette Injector is a good shaver if you are looking for a mild injector shave. However, I think the prices for them are way out off line unless you are a collector and you just have to have one to complete your collection. There are many cheaper alternatives out there if you are looking to get an injector.

    Have a great day Ya'll!
  15. Thanks Jeff...You always put one right over the fence....After one of your reviews I feel like I've known the subject razor...KNOWN...like in a Biblical sense...Thanks...sounds like a great razor for someone looking for a mild injector and isn't worried about the bread...And also the exclusivity seems pretty cool...:)

There you have it...The Stingraysrock; our roving reporter; has "nailed" another one folks...stay-tuned for more injector, SE news and current shaving events...LOL

BTW---Stingray, I've heard as a reporter you've been able to contact "BG"...And she has always been a big exponent of the Lady Eversharp's popularity...Do you think she might be willing to grant you an interview, and we could see just how her Lady Eversharp, Type H, or her other Injectors stack up to her Gillette favs.....The ladies here need to know...and me too heh,heh,heh...
  16. Okay, okay. You guys got to me. I'll play.

I'm going this entire week with a different SE every day. I'll be rotating the same Gem blade from razor to razor, after a good hand strop, of course. So far...

    Sunday - Gem Push Button
    Monday - Gem MM OC
  17. Here! Here! for the Gillette Injector

I love my Gillette Injector. I think it is well worth the effort to find one. I paid $12.50 for mine, cased. It was miss marked as a Trac II, but that was the way Gillette was marketing its Twinjector blades at the time.
  18. Jeff, I guess things have a way of working out; I bought a Gillette Trac II for $20 thinking it was an Injector:signs081
  19. Hey man...so glad you could make the scene...This is great....But please give us a little feed-back, if one razor feels better or worse than another...I know its subjective but we know you...and if we have dug UR opinions in the past, it will help us make decisions in the future...and vise versa...LOL
ANYBODY WANT TO JOIN STEVE...ONE WEEK OF SE OR INJECTOR SHAVES ??
Jeff you already shaved with an injector today aswell....huh???...I already opened the week with a steller showing from the Black Tip Beauty....but it does have a single edge.....on each side....LOL
