My injector week went fairly well. The last time I got the injectors out, they didn't treat me as well, so glad to see that they had gotten over those issues.
Injector Guy Well Lloyd, I'm an injector kinda Guy! It always goes well for me. Glad I could be a part of it my friend! DC.......
Routinely good. The J1 is not my absolute favorite, but it gets the job done, and with an exact duplicate of it at home, it's a good choice for a travel razor. The real revelation of the week has been Arko stick, though. I liked it before, but it may be the only soap I use for travel from now on. Absolutely cannot go wrong with this stuff.
Thought I'd show off my my latest 1912 Damaskeene in the party thread. I've been keeping an eye out for one with the handle that would accept a stropping device and I stumbed onto this beautiful cased specimen for a measly $10. As an added bonus, in the blade case was four vintage blades still in their wrappers, one Treet and three Gems. Enjoy! [/QUOTE]
Not a razor, but I just picked up some Gillette Platinum Plus injector blades from an ebay auction. I will be trying them out soon.:drool
I have enjoyed reading the post on the injector razors. I defnitely will put one on my want list. Question how different is the shave from a Gem SE?
Here's a selection of several vintage types. Plus Platinum (same as Platinum Plus?) in the lower left. That's the last package of them I have. Also had a two blade sampler that came with an NOS type L. I don't know that they actually shaved better than the modern Schick blades, but they were pretty long lasting, I think. At this point, don't remember exactly how many shaves I got from them, but I think it was over 12 each.
Thanks Slivovitz, I've seen the Personna and Schick injector blades before, and I have a a few dispensers of the Personna 74's but he said he got some Gillette Platinum Plus injector blades. I've never heard of them before and would like to see what the packages look like. I've got some 1982 Gillette Platinum Plus double edge blades and they are very good, just curious about their injector blades.
Ah yes, if I'd only read what was actually there instead of what I expected to see.:ashamed001 I didn't know Gillette made Platinum Plus Injector blades. Did try one of their DE ones, I think. I've used the Gillette Twin Injector blades, but not their other injector ones.
By the way, did you see the pictures of the Schick B1 my wife found at a flea market for $1? I was hoping you'd comment on it since you're such a huge injector fan.
I missed that, but found the thread since you mention it. Very nice. Isn't it amazing what's underneath the grime sometimes once you clean it up? Can't beat that price, either. Those early magazine injectors have the coolest loading mechanism, too.:happy005
My cleaned up & almost ready to shave with Schick Type I1 Injector. All that's missing is a new blade for it. I think I'm going to have to order some of off emsdiasum. I'm really itching to take this baby for a spin around some dangerous curves!
Yo Tom I just checked out your B1 myself...Don't know how I missed it before...I'm in love with those Schick Repeaters...and yours is beautiful...I think we need some centerfolds of that one here at the Party for posterity... That price renews my faith in living...
