  1. Hey guys I know I'm way, way, way late to the party :ashamed001 but I'd like 1 or 2 if there end up being any left (doubtful) or if there is another group buy (hopeful). ;)
  2. now wondering that myself - this is the first time I've noticed the "H" comes after the "K", not the "S".....the brain is a mysterious place (that may be half the reason I try not to use mine :D)
  3. Found this on a space discussion forum based on the Soviet Voskhod human spaceflight project:

Having a debate with my son. What's the correct pronunciation of Voskhod? Is it "voskod" or "voshkod"? Thanks.

    From Jim Oberg's web site:
From old "Space Race" history, there's the "Voskhod", often mispronounced (and sometimes even misspelled) as VOSH-kod. (To say the word correctly) Stress the second syllable and say it "vahss-KH'OTE", to rhyme with "Vostok" (vahss-TOKE).

Additionally, it means "ascent" or "dawn" or "sunrise".

  4. Suddenly "Favre" doesn't seem quite as unusual a pronunciation.....:D
  5. I wish I had counted, because when I started I didn't think it was possible. I think I have 20+ on my first Personna 74. I usually toss a blade after 3.
  6. Yes, Gary sent me some and I hated the first blade. It had some QC issues or old age or something because it was horrible. One side was fine, the other side was horrible. I'm now on the 5th shave on the second P74 blade and it's doing quite well still.
  7. "vahss-KH'OTE", to rhyme with .......

Jody, thanks and I would never have pronounced it that way.....:signs131
  8. If you do another one of these, I'd love to get in on 3 cards. Love the voskhods
  9. Where these blades at now? Im almost down two only 40 of these blades left. If it takes any longer I might have to use some other dreaded blade :sick007

    Never good.

Any ideas? I am sure we will get and update soon... I hope.
  10. :sihns011
  11. Why thank you. That is what I thought but for some reason the blade shortage is making me go crazy. MUST HAVE VOSKHOD :D

These blades are the best I have used thanks to a wonderful PIF I got a pack and havn't looked back.
  12. Blade shortage? What blade shortage?
  13. Shavepocolypes is really happening :angry021
  14. Surly you jest!
  15. Okay, I guess I am going to have to look into honing and stropping my blades so I can stretch them out. How do I get the Teflon back on though...
  16. They make Teflon spray. Just lay out all blades after honing and spray them. Let dry flip, spray again. then a tad of stropping and you should be off to the races :happy102
  17. Восход (Voskhod) - 'Vas-hod' with O in 'hod' means 'sunrise' No any 'K' in this word. 'A' in 'Vas' like 'march' (a:) and 'O' like 'more'.
  18. Thanks for update!
  19. OK, I haven't checked this thread in a while, so I went back and caught up! Looks like we're expecting the shipment to come into NY right about now. Then allow another couple or three weeks or so to get them shipped out. No problem for me.:D

It does look like Jeff may run out before they get here though!:happy102

Now, you guys tell me about the Rapira. I remember reading somewhere in another thread about them coming from the same factory. Are they anywhere near the Voskhods? If so where's the best place to buy them? Group buy from the same place, maybe?

And what about the Personna 74's that Jody is sending to Jeff to hold him over??:happy102 Can't believe I haven't read about them before. Are they that good? 20 shaves?? Man, should we have made a group buy on them instead?

Jody, just one more thanks for going to all of this trouble. I think we should ALL chip in and buy you Rosetta Stone for Russian!

Alright, this is official. I am starting a group buy. Everyone that's in on this buy....or wants in on a future group buy, must send in their share of $379. Cash only, no PayPal!:happy102
