So today, I used my "new" Gillette Super Speed for the third time. This is my first time venturing away from the cartridge world, though I've been using a brush and soap for awhile. My friend Stephen sent me the razor, along with some blades and a stick of ARGO (i think that's right, too lazy to walk to the bathroom to get it right) soap. The first couple of shaves I was really gentle and afraid of cutting myself and razor burn. Today, I decided to go all out and go ATG. My wife tells me that my cheeks haven't been this smooth since we were in high school. I know what my shave of choice is now!
Well I picked up 2, a 1954 and one made sometime in the 40's, although I like the 1954 one more, I seem to get better shaves and is easier to hold (I wonder if tht is because of the flare tip)
I'm with ya Jim...and Congratulations...You just can't beat a Super Speed...My '52 Black Tip 40's style still gives me the closest shaves imaginable... And the Arko Stick is my favorite...
Old razors are the best...well, in my opinion anyway. Glad you found one that's working for you. Arko is a great soap as well. Sounds like you are set for some great shaves.
The vintage razors, Gillettes, Schicks, PALs, et. al. provide excellent shaves. Some folks simply want something new, when something old may just be a better deal! Enjoy!
SuperSpeeds will work wonders in new hands as well as experienced. As you can see from the ages of these, they are easily capable of a lifetime of dedicated service. Glad to have you on board.
