All I am looking to move from my Mach 3 (aka the Skin shredder) to a safety razor. Mike suggested I try Merkur Long handle or Heavy duty. What do you think of these two selections or is there something else you would recommend. thanks for your help Raul As I am new to this world, I want to keep this on a limited budget.
Not sure if Mike has any DEs, but Raf does. Just borrow one from him. Tell him I said you could. Or, if he raises a fuss, just look here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220144072051&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=012 There are definetly cheaper ways to get your feet wet, than buying a brand new Merkur. I believe there are also a number of razors for sale in our Classifieds forum. http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30
Hey now, it's hard enough to keep Raf from running off with all my stuff... I don't need to have to start keeping an eye on Raul too
http://www.razorandbrush.com/kits.html or http://www.razorandbrush.com/barberiaraz.html Look for the Dual-Mode 1818 or the Tripple-Mode 1828 at the bottom of the catalog. These two will act like a cartridge razor and a double edge razor as well. This should help minimize that shock of going from a cartridge to a double edge. The Trac II mode should act similar to your Mach 3, but still require some adjustment then you can switch to the double edge mode when you are ready.
I have plenty to go around. I have dibbs on Mike's stuff so back off!!!! All of my DE's are Gillettes. You can borrow any of them just let me know so we can meet at Mike's. You can distract him while I make a visit to his shave den Raf
Still waiting on the Fatboy. A good starting DE, Gillette SuperSpeed or Gillette Tech. Cheap and easy. for a new one the Merkur HD is great too.
RJ: PM me your address and Ill send you a "better than mint" * golden Aristocrat to start with. Thatll get ya started. * of course we all know what that means
I'll make you a deal Raf, you can have all the shaving gear if you distract him while I plumage his Humidors. There is nothing like a Fine Cigar
Me thinks our new friend was talkin bout Mike's humidor. I have good cigars.......Mike has FINE cigars :drool .......................still waiting to try one of his beloved Davidoff Milleniums
