Thanks for the picture, that is a nice looking knife. I'd be afraid of damaging it if I used it to cut something.
I have settled on these two as my favorites. Gillette Bleue SuperMax Sunrise. I've tried a bunch of others and these seem to be the right balance of performance and price.
Bic's are a newly tried blade for me and they are decent for about three shaves. I could buy more. That right there is a very nice blade!
I used a Gillette Super Blue blade today in my 1930 Ball-end NEW. Man, these things are sharper than Bernie Madoff's bookeeper. Not rough, but I may have to use a less aggressive razor next time. Good sharp vintage blades. I will definitely put them into the rotation.
I am fairly new but i get my best shaves with Feather blades. and for some reason i also dont get nicks with them like i do with many others.
Used a Zorrik blade for the first time today, I had received them free in a shipment. Got an excellent shave with it, we shall see what days 2, 3, 4, turn up.
Shark super chrome, but any blade from the lord factory suit me fine as i've been through most of them.
I wanted to HATE the shark blades, I thought the name was stupid, didn't like the graphics etc... (Add to the fact I love nature shows, but hate nature shows about sharks... Just a personal quirk.) When I finally got around to trying a super chrome from a sampler pack, I was hooked (pardon the pun.) Really really great blade, not the sharpest, but not bad as far as tugging is concerned, but very easy on the face. If you want to practice blade buffing, j-hooking etc, I highly recommend these before you decide to move up to a Feather or Personna Lab/Med Prep blade. My first Shark, I did 12 shaves on, and would probably have done a few more, but my Personna lab/meds came in and I wanted to give those a try. (Also a very good blade, but closer/sharper/less forgiving than the Sharks.) When someone goes into trying a product that they expect is cr** and they WANT to be crap, but ends up purchasing 100.... Of course, YMMV, and I would never recommend purchasing a large quantity blind... On the other hand... Looking at the number of people on here recommending Shark blades (especially the super chromes) I doubt you'd loose too much if you didn't like, and had to re-sell them.
Day 2 with the Zorrik, same as day 1. This may just be a bargin blade for those who it works good for. We'll see what happens for future days.
Ones I can't find! I found a pack of dad's that was Schick platinum that were great. Can't find them anymore though!
I really like the Feathers but really WANTED to like the Merkur blades, they never gave a good shave.
Got to put a plug in for the Treet Dura Sharp Classics, they are an awesome blade from what I've tried so far, and pretty cheap to boot.
Day 3 with the Zorrik, just the slightest beginnings of tugging of the blade, however the shave was still excellent. Will see what day 4 brings, however I seldom get a blade lasts longer than 4 days.
I'm new to DE shaving but have a couple favorites for now. I haven't tried that many yet but so far I like Racer and Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum(made in India).
