That's what I said. I've since seen the buyer trying to resell it at an understandably jacked price. So far, I've not noticed it leaving his possession. How big can that market be?
Auction Price Jacking ? Or not ? Take a good look The Bidder Name 4***i Bid 33 times or so and he didn't even win, While the winner 0***0 bid 9 time's , Now i find that very suspicious. Take a look for yourselves guys and see how many times 4***i placed a bid, i could be wrong but looks like someone was jacking up the auction price for sure. 33 bids for a blue tip Common What are the ODs ?
Looked at the page, and the seller did a very good job with pictures. Excellent. The kind of pictures "I" like to see before I put it on a watch list. Picture 4 (I believe) of the one of the underneath of the head, showing the date code, ALSO gave good indication to it's condition. There was some pitting, though minor, on the guard undeath. There was also showing it was not new, or even nearly new. I was at a local antique store about 2 weeks ago and he had an ajustable thin handle Gillette and a red tip. The adjustable worked well, and locked into place smoothly, but had left over soap residue on the edge of the "doors" near the blade edge and some underneath that pretty much hid the date code. The red tip was good enough, TTO worked well, and it was missing just some red paint on the bottom of the razor. I gave him $8.00 for the both. Got the adjustable cleaned up and it's a 1962, same birth year as my wife. When it took off the "residue" it had worked a bit on the chrome plating and there was a very slight, and I mean you have to look close, showing of the brass underneath. But, to pick it up and look at it, it looks good. TTO work great, the adjustments click into place and the doors lock very smoothly into position as well as proper gaps between 1 and 9. I've shaved with it and it's a great shaver...BOTH. Another friend of mine jcwit (handle) was at a local flea market some weeks back, and got there 1 WEEK BEFORE ME, and bought a bag of 3 nice Gillette razors, and one was a Fat boy..... for $10.00 So, the price on this was really not called for, and I'm like a lot of others on here. I watch and if it goes during the duration of the auction for more than I would bid, sometimes I delete it, and sometimes I leave it just to see how much this would actually go for. As far as the vitamins, it's a lot like anything that has no longer been in production. People see this as something of an "investment" and buy it. I remember those vitamins. And I remember square Holly Hobby lunch buckets and Star Trek lunch boxes and now I "see" these things being sold at antique stores!! If I would have kept what I carried to school when I was a kid, it would be worth something today. ... except for the club that I carried to beat off the saber tooth tigers and such.. that was pretty common club.
:happy001 When I clicked on the thread I was expecting a cedarfurnitureman listing, I was disappointed, anyone who spends $121.59 on a brassed blue tip has some issues....
Even an idiot knows better than to pay that kind of money for a brassed SuperSpeed blue tip. Given that and the 52 bids, I think the only issue was a big contest in pig-headedness, with the razor and selling price largely irrelevant. Maybe both bidders have control issues?
All I can say is you can almost bet a buyers dispute will follow. With ebays new policy's the seller has no protection. I had an experience as a seller where I sold an old Aristocrat that should have gone for 25-30, but was bid up to over 100. The buyer filed a claim stating the razor was bent. I had to refund the money and the buyer sent the razor back to me all bent up. It was shipped in the case so I'm pretty sure the damage didn't happen in the mail. If I was the seller (since ebays policy's no longer offer any protection to sellers) I would just cancel the bids and not even bother with this as there is certainly going to be buyers remorse. Odds are for a legit seller nothing good will come of this.
I think the same thing just went down yesterday with a lady Gillette blue stars. Sold for $102.50 to the same buyer as above I think. I stopped at $ 40.00 but kept my eyes on it to see what happened
