Lathering is not nuclear physics, but on the other hand, it takes me a bit of practice to get my 'best' lather with a new soap. TSD looks a bit different from any of the hard milled soaps I have or Mama Bears. So I thought I'd see what works best. I'm using it tomorrow for the first time. I use a scuttle with a TGN silvertip knot.

How wet a brush do you start with? How long do you load the bristles? How much water does this soap like?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to using it!

Use it like you would any glycerine soap.

I shake most of the water out of the brush so I don't get a slurry with too much water going and then once loaded. I dip the tips in the sink water and start swirling.

TSD soaps lather pretty easily so it shouldn't take you but a second to get the hang of it.

    Good luck :D

My advice, take any and all advice offered, but don't be disappointed if what is offered doesn't work for you. You may not have the same brush or water hardness of the person giving you the tips. Just gotta keep trying 'til you find what works for you.

You're gonna love JoAnna's soaps. Some of the best out there. I try to make sure I have one coming up in the rotation for my Saturday straight shaves. TSD soaps just seem to provide a touch more slickness for the str8 to glide on.

Thanks, guys. I won't worry about it too much, but I am looking forward to it.

You may need more product and/or water than other soaps, but once the trial and error part is done, you will be rewarded with a brush full of slick lather!

Well I definitely used enough product, but a bit too much water. It was a little thin, but definitely very slick. I should dial it in tomorrow, I've been using Mama Bear's and I suspect this is going to be similar.

Lemon cedarwood, I like it! Tomorrow the Bourbon Vanilla.
