For those of us that have to shave daily, do you try and take a day off? I was thinking it'd probably be best for my face not to shave on a Sunday, let it all heal up a bit!

I don't shave until much later on a Saturday so it's not as though I'm turning up to church looking like I've not gone home yet/fell out of bed, and I was just wondering how you gents look after your faces on their days off?

I'm a night shaver and I take Fri and Sat nights off unless I have to look presentable for something. After 2 nights off that Sun evening shave is really smooth and refreshing.

Once I found the hardware, software and techniques that worked for me, there wasn't anything to heal up. Nothing wrong with letting it go for a day or two if it helps you; wiping a couple days growth away with one swipe is kinda cool too!

haha, can't wait to get to that stage, did my first 3 pass (2xWTG 1xXTG) yesterday - no nicks or rash, but a little blusher on my cheeks!

It's an individual thing. Doesn't seem to be necessary for me, and I enjoy my daily shave. For people with more sensitive skin, it might be beneficial. It's one of those things where you have to believe your own experience over what other people tell you.

I take off about half of my Sundays. Before discovering shaving as a hobby it was very rare for me to shave on a Sunday. The one benefit to skipping that
day is the very close shave I get when there's more to hack off. My highest BBS percentage is mowing down a day or two extra growth.

First, since I've started using a DE, brush and soap, I've never seen shaving as a "have to", but rather a "get to."

Twenty years in the Air Force dictated that I shave every day I had to go to work. I would take the weekends off and not shave.
Now it's not a requirement for my job, so I shave every day by choice.
As an Associate Pastor, Sunday's are a shave day.
That leaves Saturday. Guess what - I shave then, too!

Again, I shave every day by choice. There is also the fact that my face, though not made of leather, isn't overly sensitive to the daily scrape. I understand there are some who can't shave every day due to sensitivity, or just choose not to. What's that I say?...

It's your shave. Enjoy it your way. :happy088:

I skip a day shaving on Saturdays, otherwise I would just go 7 days a week. Saturdays I'd have to get up too early because of having to drop the kids off at their grandparents' on the way to work. I enjoy shaving but I'm not going to get up at 4:30am on a Saturday to do it.

I think it's a good idea to skip a day every now and then, give your face a chance to recover its natural oils. Then that 2-stubble always makes for such a beautiful, BBS shave.

I love being able to shave everyday. There are days that I will skip shaving because I am in a rush, and since I love to shave, I refuse to rush it. On the days that I do skip the shave, I make sure to add extra time to the next shave to make up for the skipped day.

I truth today's break is more the result of my technique not being good enough to shave every day without damage yet, and was pondering the possibility of a day off... as I have been an electric man for 6 years, I've pretty much had to shave every day because they don't cut as close.

I think most of you are right though shaving properly is a truly pleasant past time and I can fore-see enjoying a daily shave once I am able to!

Take your time with it. Listen to your face. If it's a bit raw the day off will help it heal. When your technique improves, and if you choose, every day will be an option.

Thanks for the advice, the day off really helped me, and combined with my first ever menthol monday, what a shave today and no stinging on my neck from my aftershave is a sign that my technique is already begging to improve:happy088:

Congrats on the menthol Monday. I have to say it feels wonderful to shave off a couple days of stuble. Just see the longer whiskers in the sink. :D

Before finding my efficient and smooth SE razors I would find myself only shaving every other day at most. To shave 2 days in a row would have been a nightmare on my neck. However, now that I've found what works for me I enjoy shaving every day. Occasionally I'll take a random day off due to arising circumstances and the like. However, if all is going smoothly, then I prefer to be smooth as well!

Heck, I enjoy shaving now! A day off!? Are you kidding? Nope, I shave everyday unless I need to get out early, then I shave at night.

sometimes I skip Friday and almost always skip Saturday.. Sunday morning with the wife gone to church I take a long shower and a longer shave.. Then I french press some good coffee and light up a Short Story and the dog and I head for the patio.
