PIF: a fine open comb *GONE*

To celebrate the redesign & relaunch of TSD -- several PIFs.

Here's a very nice open comb razor for the not yet owned or used an open comb DE shaver. Regardless of your number of posts, if you have not yet owned or used an open comb razor, here's a great vintage one to start with. Mild and relatively light in weight, yet well made with a brassed but classy finish. The Rivolia is a 1930s French razor. I don't know what happened to this company over the years, but here's a nice one to try.

Jake, that is an excellent PIF. If you have never tried an open combed razor this is a nice one to start with. Get in while you can!

I have open combed razors so please count me out of this PIF.

I love my OC razors, so I do not qualify, but wanted to applaud your generosity.

 

Great PIF. I don't qualify either. I must say after using my first OC. I fell in love. I wish I hadn't tried it yet as this is a great looking razor.

 

Sweet PIF - I also do not qualify but I wanted to give you kudos on a great way to share the joys of using an open comb razor.

I'm another member who doesn't qualify, but I have to comment on what a cool looking razor that is. I haven't ever seen one before and someone who hasn't ever tried an OC is in for a treat!

 

Wow, awesome generosity Jake. I'm not sure if I qualify so I defer to the judgment of the PIFer. I have shaved with an open comb SE, but not an open comb DE. It would be interesting to see if an open comb DE works better for me than a closed comb DE. Regardless, thanks for your willingness to bless others!

 

I have yet to try an open comb DE, I have enjoyed my SE OC's. Are they close to being the same aggressiveness? If DE compared to SE is a different critter, I would enjoy being considered. Thanks for a Great PIF, win or lose it is most kind of you.

So I've had the Rivolia in my possession for about a week now, but due to a kidney stone I am just now getting pictures of this fine razor up to share. I hope to give it a go tomorrow to see how she performs. It will be my first DE shave in about 2 months so it should be exciting all around. Now enough of the small talk, on to the pics:
