A fine piece I was lucky enough to acquire from the esteemed collection of Achim, aka mr-razor. The razor itself is near mint... very pristine. The plating is excellent. (thumbnails are clickable for larger view)
i'm sure you have a time machine to get razors in the condition you do. yet another fine razor in stunning condition well done
Nice! I have the razor but not the case. Maybe a little more aggressive than a US superspeed. It is a heavy brute for a simple TTO though, probably because the doors (and what else?) are steel.
The British razors were always a higher quality until the late 1960s versus the American razors of the same type. I like my Rocket over my Super Speed. The Rockets may look like any old Super Speed from a distance, until you touch one...
Correct me if I am wrong, though this is an absolutely beautiful razor, and certainly a welcom addition to almost ANY collection, this is not a "Rocket",(I could be wrong)....But instead a British ver of the Super Speed...Not meaning to ruffle any feathers, so forgive me if it seems that I have misspoken. Ed Meyer
The British Rocket is essentially a US Super Speed... and just like the US Super Speeds changed styles from round knob to flare-tip knob, so did the Rockets. Both are Rockets, both are Super Speeds. Make sense? The US Milord (which is essentially the very first Super Speed) replaced the US open-comb Senator and US open-comb Sheraton just like the British Rocket with the round knob replaced the British open-comb Popular
Thanx IAm, was not aware of that LOL, as I said, I sure did not wish to ruffle feathers, and the clarification is most welcome. I have only been in razors for about 2 years, and have still a lot to learn. BTW, anyone know what happened to CountryJoesCollectables?....Had a decent razor setion...but now seems to be gone???? Thanx Ed Meyer
Joe passed away sometime last year and I'm guessing the family either decided not to continue the web site or didn't know how to keep it up. Great guy he was. Definitely missed.
The one thing about most of the Rockets were that they used more metal in the fabrication so the razors were heavier and had more solid mechanisms than their U.S. sibling the Super Speed. The Rockets were also as a series somewhat more aggressive than their American counterparts. I know that the two of mine are more aggressive than the equivalent Super Speeds.
We have here at TSD an excellent sticky thread on the Rocket razors. See it here. And then there's this Super Speed sticky thread. Very useful information in those threads.
Jody it gets to be very tough to enter your threads at times, I need to get a cover for my keyboard to keep the drool out.
