As I continue my journey into a more tradtional grooming. I have recently ditched the liquid body soap for a bar soap.
I recently purchased a bar Jabon De Reuter. I use that the roundy thing it produces a great lather .
Personally I think bar soap cleans better and leves my skin more healthier.
I am a convert to bar soap.

I tried body wash for about two or three bottles worth last year. Went back to bar soap . It was just what I always used.
My wife and I mostly use Dove. Occasionally I'll buy a bar of something else for me (the last was a bar of "can't remember brand" of cedarwood from Whole Foods), but Becky sticks with the Dove.

I tried that Axe stuff awhile back, Snake Bite or something like that, it was green or orange...made my skin feel too soft.

For the most part I have always been a "buy a brick of whatever is cheap" bar soap guy. However, I have really taken a liking to the Yardley English Lavender. It is cheap, a buck a bar at the dollar store. I also just ordered a three bar pack of Speick. I got a sample bar in a shave order and really like it. $4.00 per bar is pricey, but it was "free" money so I grabbed it.

Dude, review that when you have used it a bit. I'll spring for it if it makes my skin feel as good as my face does when I shave with it, and the smell.....

Right on Mang! So far from my little sliver of a trial bar, I can say that the Speick scent from the bar is twice as strong as the Speick scent you get from the A/S!

Outstanding. I may just have to become a Speick man then. I only have the shave stick at the moment so I'll probably get the AS and the soap too.

I prefer bar soap over body wash, too, as well as over liquid hand soap.
That doesn't mean I don't like some of the body washes, I like the Old Spice line, and it's convenient for travel.

I'll also echo the sentiments that I'll usually get whatever's cheapest.
However, I recently sprang to try some Mitchell's Wool Fat bar soap. I like the shave soap a lot, and was curious how the soap performed. But my main impetus for getting it was too see how it did for my kids, particularly my daughter. Her eczema is pretty bad, and I bet that real soap would be better for them than any kind of cleanser, no matter how hypoallergenic or "made for sensitive skin" they were....

and I was right. This summer both of their skin has been much better, and it wasn't a fluke...when we went to Mobile and didn't take it, their skin was worse.
My wife has even taken a preference to it, as well, liking how it makes her skin feel.
One of these days she's gonna take my word for it that natural stuff is usually better than chemically manufactured stuff....usually

In the shower it is plain old Dial soap!

I bought a bar of the MWF shower soap and after 2 uses pitched it. With my hard well water it didn't do anything at all. It was such a dissapointment as I was really looking forward to it.
I got the same results with Borotalco, so I'm sticking with Ivory or Irish Spring.

Hmmm, I had no idea that MWF came in a bar either.....I may have to broaden my shower soap horizons a bit.

I was using a triple milled soap from Mistral Soaps called Sandalwood Bamboo. Excellent soap. Kept my skin moisturized, and gave me that clean feeling. One day here recently, I went back to Old Spice Liquid Soap. The next day, I had some body acne on my chest! I never had a problem with body acne while using the bar soap. Lesson learned. Bar soap is definitely the way to go for my skin. I recently purchased some Lever 2000 Fresh Aloe bars, and Irish Spring Icy Blast soap, which are very good bar soaps. The problem I have with liquid soaps is the amount of chemicals they put in those things. Bar soap? Clean and simple my friends...Clean and simple.

Yep +1 on all that! I was a big body gel guy. I even had some that they claimed you could wash everything with it, body, Hair and even shave with the foam in the shower. I never tried to shave with it and it did not do much for my hair. Then one day Rodd Pifed some bar soaps to me and I was hooked. Now the wife buys all kinds of bar soaps and I really enjoy them. right now she has some lime soap in the shower and it is very nice. First thing in the morning I jump in that shower and that scent hits my nostrils and BAM I can just feel my body starting to wake up. Plus the soap is just plain better to clean with. I will never to back to gel.

Definitely. I agree. Bar soaps can be cheaper and last a little big longer as well.

I'm planning a big haul this fall, and I'm thinking about grabbing a year's worth of bath soap along with all my shave stuff. I'm thinking 8 or 9 bars should do it.

I've been using body wash for years, but, like you, I've been moving more toward traditional grooming all around.

How big are the soaps that you are buying? I've had an 8.8 oz soap for a little less than a month now, and it seems like it should last a long time. I've heard 8.8 oz soaps can last up to 6 months.

True. I got the 150 gram/ 5.29 oz MWF soap, and with all four of us using it, the first one lasted a little over 3 months.
