ugh, I tried to pay for an order this morning from a vendor in England. Card denied. WTF? I just got paid, there is plenty in the account. Tried it again... denied. I went through Google Check out (no PayPal option).. denied. I logged into bank account, plenty of money there. Went out and used card both as debit and credit without problem. Came home, card denied. Tried another account, card denied... Tried another vendor though PayPal, denied... Why are all of my cards suddenly refusing to let me make an international purchase through google, paypal, or a directly with the business?
Happy Sunday. It's been a while, I believe. Irene hit us recently. Not as bad as it could have been. A lot of debris, a number of downed trees, and some power outages. My thoughts to those it affected worse than it did me. I managed to lop the top of my right index finger off. Whoops! It's healing up and I have a funny looking flat spot one the left side now. I'll be taking part in a 50 mile bike ride at the end of the month, so I'm definitely in for a fun time with the two weeks of training I lost as a result of my finger. We'll see how it goes. I was in New York a couple weeks ago and walked past a number of shaving shops. I was short on time, and didn't run into any, even though I wanted to go back to Pasteur's Pharmacy again. Next time. I'll probably be back at the end of the month. How's everyone? Ugh. Don't get me started on Apple. I won't ever stop.
Dom! Glad to here you weathered the storm all right. Ouch on the finger! Hope it heals fast. If you don't mind sharing the details, how'd it happen? Best of luck in the upcoming ride.
I slipped with an Exact-o knife while cutting something out. It was a mildly surreal experience seeing a piece of my finger on the table across from me. Thanks for the well wishes, Bill. How have you been?
I've been bitten by an Exact-o knife myself before, not quite that bad luckily, but they are the kind of scary sharp where I didn't feel the cut happening. No complaints, and when I do JoAnna just tells me to quit whining.
I think it should be a standard feature on all blu-ray players that you can have it bleep movies, using the word "smurf" in place of the swear words. Samuel L. Jackson flicks would take on a new dimension: "I'M SICK OF THESE MOTHER-SMURFIN' SNAKES ON THIS MOTHER-SMURFIN' PLANE!" "SAY 'WHAT' ONE MORE TIME MOTHERSMURFER--SAY 'WHAT' ONE MORE MOTHERSMURFIN' TIME!" "MINE'S THE ONE THAT SAYS "BAD MOTHERSMURFER" "DOES MARCELLUS WALLACE LOOK LIKE A SMURF?"
I like it. My wife does too. We'll buy one when you make it. in other news, somebody needs to tell Monday to knock it off. You may recall my problems with the republic of Texas. I've also lost important paperwork this week and generally been stressed as heck. So yesterday I focused on making myself relax. It was working until my wife went grocery shopping after the kids were in bed. I went out to move my car so she could get the van out. I was wearing shorts and my crocs. Didn't have my phone, wallet, or my shirt. Naturally I was locked out of the house on a Saturday night in South Texas. There was no emergency- kids were asleep so I waited two hours for her to come home. That was yesterday. Today I'm drinking a beer and I notice a funny shape on the bottom. "What's that?" I ask myself while swirling the liquid around to clear the foam. A roach. A small roach, but a roach nonetheless. Crawled into my glass while I was talking to my wife. Monday needs to knock it off right now.
Here's what I'm thinking...Monday knows tomorrow is a holiday, so it's gotta get its shenanigans in today. Such a smurfin' smurfhole, that monday is. Maybe we should call it smurfday?
What's this? Every one sleeping in this morning? Good for you! Welcome to a new week! The NFL kicks off this Thursday - Saints @ Packers. The Macintosh apples are ready for picking - Becky and I gathered up 42 pounds on Saturday. MMMMMMM.... but she makes a great apple pie. So..... how's your day?
Steve, thanks for starting this up this week. Just went for a 6 mile hike this morning. Should have started a new HYD thread first, but I don't always have 100% clarity that early. The hike has about 2 miles in the middle that are reasonably flat where I just did my first trail running. Also nice, that this is right by my house. I'll be routing for the Saints Thursday. As a Vikings fan, I'm routing for anyone to playing against the Packers (depending on standings I might make a rare exception with the Bears or Lions). We finished up the crab apple jelly last weekend. Enjoy your pie! Finally, I found the latest Dr Who episode, "Night Terrors" extra creepy. I suspect little girls all over the world are refusing to play with dolls for a couple weeks.
Heck yeah, I'll be rooting for the Saints! I'm not a non-Packers fan, I just prefer the Saints. I can't really say I have a "favorite" NFL team, unlike college ball.... I do like the Saints, Steelers, Patriots from time to time, and Texans. The rest of the teams I guess it just depends on who they're playing. Except Cowboys and Raiders...I'm almost always rooting against them.
I'm an NFL Fan first, Patriots fan second. Then I'll root for whoever is playing the Cowboys. I'll watch who ever is on. Games go on as soon as I get home from church and don't go off until I fall asleep on them, usually close to halftime of the Sunday night game. I should know better than to try and watch a game in my recliner or in bed. Being down here across the river from Philly, of course we're going to get all the Eagles games. I don't mind that at all. Getting a Pats game is just a bonus. Becky's in the kitchen now, starting to make an apple pie!
I used to be that extreme, but it depends on who they're playing now, and if them winning benefits another team I'm pulling for, with one exception: For whatever reason, I almost always pull for the Cowboys over the Eagles. I really don't know why. I used to be a Redskins fan, back in the Joe Gibbs days, and even kept a spot for them in my list of teams I like when Joe went into NASCAR. I still like Joe Gibbs, but I've fallen away from the Redskins, and when he betrayed the sport and went with Toyota for his race teams, I root against his drivers. Still, I like and respect the man....but c'mon dude...The circle is complete now, I guess. Go from having a team of rough and gruff men, to the little whiny sissies he has driving his cars now
There are three games the Cowboys will be playing this year that I'll be rooting for them - vs Dolphins, vs Jets, vs Bills. Being a Pats fan, it's a division thing pssst.... let me know if you hear Shawna coming.
LOL! yeah, I'll pull for them against the Jets, too, since I can't stand the coach. Which is unfortunate, since my Bama QB is up there now. I liked the Dolphins with Marino, but I'm kinda indifferent now. Bills - I'm even more indifferent, but I tend to favor them over the Cowboys after they won, what was it, 12 super bowls over them? Actually, what was it, the Cowboys beat them twice in the SB, but they went several years in a row and lost, gaining them the nickname Boy I Love Losing Superbowls
