Merkur quality is such a big factor in my lack of love for them. I really like my slant but if it had a quality finish like the EJs/Muhles have I'd have no heartburn. As far as comparing the two though, that is almost like asking to compare apples and oranges.

I have the 1904 and the vision . The lowest end and the highest end of the Merkur line up. So far no problem with both.

I love my EJ DE87. It gives me BBS, comfortably, with any blade I use. I can't ask for better than that. I love my Merkur 37 slant. It gives me BBS, comfortably with most blades I use. I hate it's crappy finish, though. Nothing says garbage like paying that much for a razor and having it rot away before your eyes. IF it didn't have the plating loss/corrosion problems, it would be darned near perfect. I'd still love to have a Progress. And maybe an R41. IF Muhle made a slant, I'd be in heaven.
