Same here. When using my Blu-ray player to stream, searching a real pain. The queue makes watching on the big TV practical.

Netflix hasn't done anything to lose me personally, just based on how I use the service and the fact that I don't watch as many movies as most people so as long as I find some content that interests me, I'm happy. But, I see how things they've done upset others and I'm wondering if they'll turn some things around or if it will continue until I'm irritated with them also.

I've stood behind netflix despite some of their boneheaded decisions. I still findi it to be a great service and a great value, but they are systematically chopping away at one of the most important aspects of a great service--the end-user experience. These constant changes are slowly taking away features that an established user base has come to know and appreciate. It''s like a car manufacturer deciding to discontinue putting cup-holders in cars. Sure, it's a minor detail, but eventually, when they decide that a car needs only 3 wheels, people are going to start getting pissed. It's no wonder their stock is hurting.

I almost wonder if they aren't trying to devalue their stock so that the cable companies won't perceive them as such a threat.

If Cable companies would offer a la carte packages I would go back. But right now, for the amount I watch TV, the netflix is a better deal.

Yeah, I just got an apology letter in my email. I'll just pretend to think positive and hope the streaming service gets better.

yeup, as has been said before, they've got us by ....well, you know.
They're still the most cost-effective service out there for many of us, so while we may moan and complain, there's not really another option. Well, until Amazon's service gets better, which it has been growing quite well, apparently. I haven't checked on it in awhile though. The biggest plus with Netflix is streaming through the Wii.
Without a laptop at home anymore, streaming Amazon may not be too good through this netbook from work.
Although Micah seems to get pretty darned good Netflix streaming on his....I need to give it a try, I reckon.

On the plus side, video game rentals may be a saving grace for "Quikster"...although we don't really play that much, it could make it worth hanging on to it.
    Maybe.

    ummm, aarrgh

I think the biggest thing Amazon has going for it is that you can rent new releases. Though I can see Netflix doing something similar, sort of a pay per view option.

So long as they have some clear demarcation between what will and will not be pay-per-view, I think this would be a great addition. The only fear is everything that's decent to watch being pushed into pay-per view. Perhaps even a tiered price structure: Say $2.99 for a movie out less than 6 month, $0.99 for movies 6-months to a year, then to the main library. Maybe add $1.00 for HD streaming of new movies. Current season TV could be added for prices comparable to Amazon.

Just in the time writing that, I think this might be an option that could really save Netflix. It would increase revenue and increase customer satisfaction at the same time. I'll be adamant on the clear definition of what can be pay-per-view in standing behind this, but with that condition I'm really in favor of this.

But see, you're hitting on the clear benefit of a service like netflix there. 1 overall fee for the month, like a gym membership. I want to be able walk into the gym and use whatever equipment is available, be it the treadmill or the free weights. I don't want to have to go in and pay .99 to use the free weights, 1.50 for the treadmill, etc. The whole point of a site like Netflix as we have come to enjoy it, is that it's a Movie/TV service first and foremost. I go there to watch movies, either by DVD or by Streaming. Reed Hastings has lost sight of this. In the comments on the netflix blog, he even says that there will not be any integration between Quickster and Netflix. That's just ludicrous. Somebody needs to take Barney's bullet away before he shoots himself in the foot again.

In other news, our local KMart has the Archos 7c on sale for $169 right now. I'm thinking about it--I'd probably get more use out of a camper shell, though.
