Irish Coffee 2 ounces Bushmills Irish Whiskey ¾ ounce molasses syrup (made 1:1, molasses with water) 4 ounces strong black coffee Freshly whipped cream Freshly ground nutmeg Layer whiskey, syrup and coffee in a pre-warmed toddy glass. Do not go nuts with the whipped cream just add about a thumb-thick cream float on top. Garnish with freshly ground nutmeg.
At the suggestion of an older gentlemen at work I tried this one today. It's cat's a$$ 1. Fill a glass with ice cubes 2. Add 3 fingers or so of Maker's Mark whiskey 3. Top off the glass with Canada Dry Ginger Ale Very Nice. Great Success!!!
Rittenhouse Rye is my favorite, at the moment. The 100 proof bottled-in-bond version, if you can find it. To my palate, far and away better than Beam or Overholt. And very reasonably priced, to boot. Exceptional in a Sazerac, too.
A recipe for Pimms #1 -- fantastic! The last remaining Pimms blend is readily available here, but your version sounds especially good. Does Lillet make a red version as well? We can only get the white variety here. Excellent chilled with an orange slice, by the way.
The Bourbon Odyssey Continues Glass Full of Ice 2 finger Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon Canada Dry Ginger Ale Squeezed in a slice of lime per previous suggesion You know, historically, bourbon is my Fall/Winter drink. When Spring/Summer rolls around the mosquito population begins to grow so just to be safe I increase my quinine intake and normally switch to Bombay Gin and Tonic. You can't take the malaria threat in these parts too lightly . I must confess however that this cocktail has that refreshing sourish lemonaide kind of taste and I could easily see myself drinking these in the warmer months
GI ! :eatdrink047................a little lime goes a long way in that one. Looking for some suggestions for Lillet Rouge. If anyone likes this stuff, please post some recipes here
Wetting my appetite even as we speak with a delightful St. Patrick's Day Apertif Jimmy Beam Kentucky Bourbon Canada Dry Ginger Ale A squeeze of lime (slice floating in the glass) Everyday a holiday and every meal a feast. Cheers Fellas!
i had some friends over recently for dinner. i was making carne asada, but was not in the mood to mix margaritas. then i remembered an old Trader Vic recipe... El Diablo. problem solved. -3 parts silver tequila -1 part creme de cassis -1 part fresh lime juice -ginger ale (good quality stuff that burns your nose a little) shake the tequila, cassis, and lime and pour over ice in a double old fashioned glass. top with ginger ale, stir, and garnish with a lime wedge.
Mojito 2 or 3 sprigs of fresh mint 3 tbsp of fresh lime juice 1 ½ oz of light or amber rum 2 tsp of sugar (I like raw sugar because the molasses really plays nice with the rum) club soda to taste Use big ice.
Not exactly a cocktail but quite refreshing just the same: Mug: Big A$$ Beer Mug from Dick's Last Resort in San Antonio Contents: 12 ounce long neck of Killian's Red X 2 Just the ticket for rinsing the dust off your teeth after a long day. Cheers!
I have to clarify this recipe since I've been mixing Mojitos long before Sex and the City made them an household word. This is the original Havana Club recipe... In a pint glass drop a handful of fresh mint leaves, a barspoon or two of sugar, and a splash of soda water. Muddle the mint until you can smell it. It should take about 30 seconds. (get a muddler! it looks like a miniature baseball bat and is crucial to this recipe) Pour in three ounces of silver rum. Cut one lime in half and squeeze in all of the juice. Drop the one of the hulls. Fill the glass with ice, top with soda water, and stir. Drink, enjoy, and check your teeth often for bits of mint.
I'm a big Rittenhouse fan. My favorite Manhattan 2 oz Rittenhouse Rye 1 oz Sweet Vermouth (Noilly Prat or Martini & Rossi) 2-3 dashes Peychaud's bitters Orange zest Maraschino Cherry Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake until you hand freezes. Servin an ice cold Martini glass.
OldAF ! Manhattans rock ! But if you ever get adventurous, try some Lillet as a sub for the sweet vermouth. Really nice :eatdrink047
Interesting variation, thanks. I'll have to find some Sweet Lillet. Will Lillet keep a couple months in the fridge like Vermouth?
Friday Libation PBR tall boys in my Big A$$ Beer mug. Very nice indeed. I put hands on a 12 pack of Tecate and a sixer of Sam Adams Summer Ale but I ended up leaving with a half rack of PBR tall boys. What can I say, may tastes lean toward the pedestrian.
