I picked up a new to me old razor today it came with (3) C. S. blades they apear to be unused but do have some small rust spots on them They are double wraped inside wrapper is white paper out side wraper is red and printed on it in white is a small triangle under this it says Triangle under that is.004 hair thin blade. Back side says satisfaction guaranteed or money refunded made in the USA. If anyone is interested in them let me know as I have no use for them.
Very kind offer. Most people collect blades if they are still wrapped and then some only collect full, sealed packs of blades. It's rare to find anyone that collects opened, used blades. There's a few people out there but they are very few... I think I've only seen 1 person in my history of razor collecting, that claimed some old, used blades. I think the only exception would be the very, super duper rare Gillette De Luxe Kro-Man steel blades. They are so rare that to even have one sans wrapper and/pack would be a feat in itself. Gillette released these in 1930 and pulled them within a few months, never to be made again because they were horrible blades. Gillette even issued full page apologies for the blade in magazines of the time.
If you will check my post I said they looked unused and are wrapped, I realize that I am from Okla. but I am smart enough to know that no one wants used blades.
Admittedly I sort of stopped when I read "some small rust spots on them" but I didn't say you were dumb or even elude to it...
I'm not really a blade collector in the strict sense. But over a few years of collecting Gillette razors from the 1900's and 1910's many had the original 3 hole Gillette blades in the blade boxes that came with the sets. I kept the blades and tried to date them looking for the oldest I could find. In the early days gillette had a unique and somewhat cryptic way of dating the blades. I have saved these blades and probably have 50 or so in a box. Most of them are still in the original wrappers. I was also lucky enough to get one of the Gillette Kro-man blades still unopened in it's original wrap. If you buy a lot of old razors from ebay in many cases the sellers will include blades. Sometimes you get lucky. The only other blades I've held on to are about a dozen original Valet blades still unopened. Len
I have a couple of old Gillette Blue Blades and Gillette stainless blades that came with some of my old Ebay razors. I also have a pack of blades from the 1970s-1980s that I used one of and found to be great. Can't remember the name. It came with a razor I bought from a guy on a shaving forum from which I was banned.
I am sure that nobody intended to offend you! One of the trade-offs of printed media / internet forums is that when we read a post it is natural to hear a voice inflection in our heads, whether is was intended or not. TSD is the only forum that I am active on specifically because everyone here is well mannered and behaves ourselves. My wife is from OK and I have family and friends in OK and neither myself, nor any of your friends and family right here on TSD would ever refer to you, or anyone as "Okie's" in a derogatory manner!
Usually. More often than not. But not always. Sorry but such things need said on occasion, precisely to KEEP a truly gentlemanly peace to which other boards only give lip service and selective moderation.
Most carbons will have some spotting on them, as you found, even if still wrapped. Even earlier grades of stainless can, too. Some ancient carbons are pristine and spotless but that ain't often. I've found such spots on mint (wrapped/boxed/sealed) carbons, but that doesn't necessarily make the blade useless to either a collector or to a shaver. My only point is, if no one needs your blades, you needn't write them off as of no use to you since almost any blade in the shape you describe can be made shave-able. I know because I do it all the time. Whether it's worth doing so is up to the individual but to pitch them (if that's what you should end up doing) would be a waste; there's still some decent shaves there! Thanks for your post and welcome.
