    Atta boy "J"....Now you're talking....injectors rock!!
Sometimes the first shave with a personna can be rough because they are so sharp...I haven't noticed it but I've heard some people say that...Stingray recommended hand stropping if the blade feels too sharp on that first shave...The good news is each shave gets better and even the 7th shave can be perfect...I've gotten 10 with some blades...:)
But with my Schick I2 I don't think I've ever gotten a bad shave....And I use rebranded personnas all the time....

I've been using the rebranded Personna blades. They are the only ones I have, except for a pack of OLD carbon steel Schick Injector blades.
The old Schicks are great, but they will eventually run out. I need to find some more, and some Gillette Twinjector blades.
I'm happy enough with the rebranded Personnas that I could live with them being my only blades. I bought them at CVS on clearance, and also got a few packs at Fred's when they carried them.

BTW, the first shave with Personna DE blades is rough for me, too. Their SE blades are great from the first shave to the last.
I need to dig out my Personna DE blades and try them out again. I may end up ordering some.
I love my Derby blades, but would really like to support domestic business. Plus, my dad used Personna DE blades so I have a sentimental affinity for them.

What is an "apple juice injector"? Does it shave you AND make cider?

I don't know...LOL...Thats why I ordered some pics....:) I heard both the Gillette and the Schick Twin Injector blades were great...I haven't tried any myself, but I've only read rave reviews...They won't work in my Schick I2...But I'm loving the shaves I'm getting with all the rebranded Personnas. The shaves I'm getting with this razor are great from shave 1 also...But Stingray Jeff suggested hand-stropping if there was a 1st shave issue...For injectors you push the razor, edge down, forward, on the heel or side of your palm, from the outside towards the center...4 or 5 quick short forward strokes...NEVER pull back of course...LOL
I know what you mean about enjoying the bond we have with our Dads when it comes to shaving...I dig using some of the same products when I can...Also the Injectors were a common bond...He loved those and was quite outspoken about it...:)
But I'm sure if I could have turned him onto some of the things I've learn now about how to get great shaves from a good DE razor, he would have like them aswell. In the old days no one thought about 3 passes...and some of the blades I've found are better than what he knew as DE blades...He switched to Schick in WWII and never looked back...:))
If you dig the Derbys don't hesitate to buy if you want to...I mean domestic companies haven't supported our wants. If it wasn't for the 3rd world sales we wouldn't have the choices we do now...Except for Personna. They're kind of the exception. It's the medical laboratory business that allowing Personna to continue making injector blades in the volume they do now...I hope it contiues for many years...;)

Yep, right you are and it is all about price points. Marketing has very little to do with actual costs and a lot to do with perceived value especially with regards to consumer goods.

I think I have about 600 Derby DE blades. Enough to last quite a while. I have a couple of the boxes of SE from Ted Pella. Then there are the Injectors and the other DE blades I have. I'm not running out anytime soon, but I'm not taking any chances, either.

E type with a Personna blade and vintage Williams soap yesterday, same blade in a Schick adjustable with vintage Surrey soap today. Both shaves were excellent!

Today I tried the clog proof from my collection and loved the shave. After using the fliptop? for the last week ,I found this one to be the most aggressive so far.

    Slow.
    Steady.
    NO pressure.
    You'll do fine.

Not SE/Injector related, but my Schick Krona TTO arrived today. I cleaned it with Simple Green and a fingernail brush. It cleaned up very nicely.
Now, it's in the Mar V Cide jar being disinfected. I plan on trying it out tonight or tomorrow morning.

The OCMM is my favorite razor. Follow Steve's advice and while you're going slow, go even slower. When you're putting no pressure, start putting negative pressure! You'll be doing fine, then you'll be great! I hope you develop a love affair with your OCMM like I have with mine. Good luck!

The thing that amazes me about the SE razors is just how straight razor-like the first pass is.
What I mean is that they both give an amazingly close WTG pass. Closer than any of my DE razors. Even closer than my slant.
The first time I shaved with my Gem 1912 and my Micromatic, I had the exact same thought. "WHY DID THEY EVER STOP MAKING THESE????"
They give amazing shaves. Like a straight razor without the possibility of slashing your own throat.

    Nice old ad.
On an unrelated note, I tried out my new-to-me Schick Krona DE razor today. I decided to experiment some and loaded it up with a Platinum Chrome Personna blade. I gave up on Personna blades over a year ago because they were too rough on my face. Apparently, the problem was my technique, because today's result was one of the best shaves I've ever had
I need to stock up on these blades. Not as mild or forgiving as a Wal Mart Wilkie, but a much closer shave.
I got zero nicks/weepers and zero irritation.
The Krona isn't my absolute favorite razor, so far, but I do like it a lot. It shaves similarly to a Super Speed.
Old Schick Krona DE plus Personna DE blades plus Omega boar brush plus Godrej shaving round equals happy face.

Did I just have a heart attack & die a little or did I really just see some DE talk in here? ;)

Well, in Jaymo's defense, it is a Schick DE which is somewhat patterned after the angles on the injector of course!

Well tried the OCMM today for open comb week and had a great 2 pass shave. It was good enough but just had to touchup under my lip and nicked myself! My own fault and ruined a great shave.Looking forward too more great shaves in the world of the single edge razor.
