Another 30 below zero and wonderful shave which gave me so much enjoyment this morning - between the Egyptian Ingram cream and the Diana Sport balsam, I'll be feeling the menthol till this evening. I found a Voskhod blade in my bedroom, so I'll load into my Super Speed for tomorrow. ;)

hmmmm.......the Kent shaving cream reminds me of one of The Real Shaving Company shaving creams. Didn't feel any menthol though. :(

Wednesday, October 5, 2011 - Open Comb Week!
    • Prep: Hot shower, California Baby face wash, Musgo Real men's body soap (Thanks Johnny!), hand strop blade
    • Lather: Cella (Thanks Johnny!) - face lather
    • Brush: Semogue 1250
    • Razor: Gem OCMM
    • Blade: Ted Pella SS PTFE (7), 2+ passes
    • Post: Alum block, WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue, hand strop blade
Unable to shave yesterday I was really looking forward to hearing the OCMM mow down my 2-day growth. It was my first time using the Cella that Johnny PIFed me and it was amazing. So easy to lather, very slick surface, and a pleasantly sweet almond scent.

    Wednesday

    Razor - Muhle R106
    Blade - Vikings Sword
    Brush - Penworks Finest
    Soap - Martin de Candre
    ASB - Sea of Spa

This morning the shave went pretty well! The Vikings blade seems to be holding a good edge and I was able to do a fine 3-pass shave. I tried out the sample of Martin de Candre soap I received this week. Everything you read about this soap is true! The scent...while the soap itself smells rather medicinal, you hardly need to touch your brush to it and you generate a luxurious lather. This morning I think I did 10 swirls on the puck and there was more than enough lather for 3 passes (I did a test lather with only 5 light swirls...same result). Needless to say I think I know what my birthday gift to myself will be this year! ;) This soap is amazing!

I'm glad you are enjoying the products. I must say I had to question my sanity after sending you that package with the Cella in it. One of my favorite soaps. The postman will be bringing me two packages of it tomorrow.

    Wednesday:
Coffee: Pete's Major Dickinson's Blend in a Chemex manual drip.
Brush: Vie-Long Caballo Extra 04212 Horse hair
    Razor: 50's Gillette Super Speed
    Blade: Rapira Super Stainless, 1
    Cream: Taylor's Lavender
    Toner: Thayer's Lavender witch hazel
    AS: Gillette Cool Wave

Superb! With this brush, I find that once I've built up the lather in a bowl with swirling brush work, painting the lather back and forth on the face builds the lather even more and gives a better coating of product. It also tames the bit of prickliness too. Happy Shaving!

I don't use SEs enough to know how many shaves this blade has been through, but it can't be that much. Very nice mild shave from this razor, I feel like I can abuse my face with it and it still won't get out of line. Very little irritation and no cuts, even doing some questionable maneuvers that other razors definitely would not have tolerated. I did notice though that no matter how I tried, in the end I wasn't able to get quite as close as a I would've with a DE. Overall a solid 4/5.

Yeah, I was wondering why it was included especially when I saw your avatar being the Cella shaving man instead of the MWF.
