Your brother and I have the same problem with MWF. The same thing happens to me so this soap, although it's great, is a no-no for me.
I was taught a little trick with MWF I leave my brush and razor soaking in a basin of warm water while I have a shower. My MWF is in its ceramic tub I remove the lid and shake a few drops of water on the puck and replace the lid while I have my shower. I find it softens the soap a bit and makes it easier to lather.
This is what I do. I have no problems with the MWF as for as shaving goes, but I cannot use their bath soap. I wanted to be able to use it because I liked the way it smelled and cleaned, and the way my skin felt when I first got out of the shower. But an hour later my whole body would itch like crazy. I have switched to an olive oil/shea butter soap made by Pre de Provence and things are starting to get back to normal. As for as shaving, I've found nothing better than MWF.
I have never tried their soap as I have to be careful what I use as I get an allergic reaction to most commercial soaps. So I use soap from an artisan soap maker at least I know what is in it and contains no nasty chemicals......
Love both the shaving soap and the bath soap. The bath soap has helped my kids with their eczema tremendously, and my wife has tried it and liked it, too. I've only had problems lathering it with soft brushes, but so far my best results have been with my boar and badger mixed brushes (Grosvenor 404 and Omega Mighty Midget)
If you don't have a problem with the shave soap, you probably wouldn't with the bath soap. I haven't checked over the ingredients list or anything, so I don't know what differences there are. I think there's a smaller size you can try, I believe it's labeled as Guest or Travel or something, that you could try.
Like the slogan under your name "I have no earthly idea", I really don't. I can use the MWF for shaving but the bath soap tears me up. I guess from the neck up I'm okay, but from the neck down I'm a disaster. And the smaller size is called guest soap.
A) that's interesting. I know that there should be differences in shave soaps from regular soaps - usually something like clay for slickness - but not sure what else could change that would make it be that different. Then again, I'm not a soapologist.... B) Holy Carp! When did my custom title change?!!?!?! I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out!
It changed about 5 minutes after you posted those words on the forum. On topic, the bath soap is totally different from the shave soap. The scent might be the same, but the soap itself is completely different IMHO. I find the bath soap to be good, but not great like the shave soap.
They do a nice range in sheep dips as well.......... Well bed time for me ...........see you all tomorrow.............
Well, MWF is nominally my favorite, but my rotation is large enough that it probably gets used once a week at most. I've only used the shaving soap. I guess I'm lucky, in that I haven't had adverse reactions to any soap I've tried. MWF has a kind of soothing feel for me during the shave, and the smell is very unobtrusive.
There Body wash is very nice too! I bought a bottle of it and it is better than anything you can get off the shelf here!
