Hey Everyone! I love the injector (Type L) that Bob sent me and now I am wanting to expand my injector collection. what are your oppinions on the Type M's (how aggressive do they get?), ones with the Hydro-Magic Lever (Type I, I think), and also has anyone tried the Type O from Japan?

The I2 HM is my favorite injector and the M's are outstanding. You can't really go wrong with either one.

The I2 is my favorite razor in life...It looks like if Aston Martin made a razor...:)
Thats my Dad's mug on the mug...He used an I2 for years and gave me my first one...

WHat are the differences in the shave between the L and I2?

I think all the Schick injectors shave great....The E's were a touch more aggressive than the G's which are very close to the I's. Maybe some G's are a touch more aggressive than the I's...Then the J's were milder still...I think the J's and L's are very close.

But you really have to try them...because of the nature of an injector, they all give very close shaves, the meaning of the word aggressive is different than with DE's...I believe the I's shave very similar to the L's...The E's are noticeably a little more aggressive, but like I said you really have to try them...All Schicks can give great Barber-Shop type close shaves...:)

Also the Hydro-Magics have the lever that allows you to more thoroughly rinse the razor head...Although I never had a problem with Schicks that didn't have this feature...It is a nice touch though..

Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick one of the older models up then and try it out.

Hey man I think Injectors are cool, and make it so easy to get better than Barber-Shop Type Shaves...
But You'd be hard pressed to do better than the "L" you got from Bob...
But if you want to try the older Schicks...They are nice to collect, and they all shave great....Those early Repeaters are like still ahead of the times...

I absolutely love the shaves I get from my G injector. It's a whisker-whacker extraordinaire, without drawing blood.
Plus, it's way to easy to shave with.
The fact that the injector head fits so well under the nose doesn't hurt, either.
Judging by the 22 pages of posts, I have to assume the Injectors/SEs have a serious following here.

I'm also liking my Gillette Twinjector a lot. It's mild on my face, yet it gives me near BBS shaves without irritation, with very little effort.

What is the opinion of the Gem Stainless steel single edge blades and the TedPella type. Are they the same?I seem to think the tedpella are a little smoother .

I think it depends on if you get the PTFE coating from Ted Pella. That coating definitely makes the blade smoother feeling to me compared to the non-coated stainless steel blades. I've not tried the Pella non-coated ones so I can't make a true comparison of just the stainless steel blades.

I don't really notice a difference. They both work well for me.

I'm enjoying my Gem razors and was wondering what type of shave does the lather catcher type give. Are they a good shaver or just a novelty razor from years past. They sure look nice, cool but also mean!I see the Gem junior style go for around $40.

I have a Gem Junior Bar lather catcher and I find it to be more mild then my other SE razors. I still get a good shave, but I have to work a little harder for it then using my other SE razors. I don't know how useful this is to you as I have only used the one Lather Catcher. My preferred SE is the OCMM.

That's the type of answer I was looking for,I prefer the TTO's as well and the 1912 type heads are not working that great for me.So maybe the lather catcher is not for me.

Tuco, I'm with you too. I get a much better shave from the Micromatics than I do from the 1912s. I still would like to have a lather catcher, but more for their looks. I'll definitely use one when I have one, but unless it outperforms my others it will be more to show off to others than anything else. Right now I'm trying out the traveling AutoStrop and I got such a good shave from it yesterday that I didn't shave this morning. Can't wait to use it again tonight though.

I have a lather catcher, a few 1912s, and a couple of MMOCs. I'll rank the lather catcher right behind the MMOC and above the 1912s.
Here's how I would rank my SEs, best to worst less than best (for me, mind you):
    MMOC
    Lather Catcher
    Gem Push Button
    Gem Clog Pruf
    1912

I have only tried 3 GEM SEs, Featherweight, Lather Catcher, and 1912. The LC, I find, gives a better shave than the 1912. I don't know what it is, maybe the lack of a built in angle? In anycase, I have trimmed my collection of GEMs down to just the LC.

There's several different years and models of Lather Catchers, like: Kampfe Star, Gem Junior Bar, Kampfe Cru-Steel, Gem Damaskeene Open Comb, Danny's 1900....So do the different LC's fare differently when compared to the other SE's ??
