The Haul: October 17th - October 23rd, 2011

A good, quality brush and affordable. Good choice. I own 1 myself.

 

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you :

"The Rocker!" ​

Jeff remembered my saying I was interested in trying out a synthetic bristled brush, and actually just the other night after reading some of the threads around here was contemplating purchasing either a new synthetic brush or knot from TGN, and the very next day this gift arrived unannounced!​

Ahh ahh! He's in my head, he's in my head! ​

Seriously though, I love the shape and heft of the vintage handle, and the feel of the synthetic knot has really surprised me.​

So from this day forward, whenever I list this brush in my SOTD, it will henceforth be listed as The Rocker! ​

Aren't these 1970s Sticky Wilkies, or Wilky Stickies -- great sets? I love the strange and tacky stickiness on the handle -- and wonder why they didn't continue making them past this year or so of manufacture.

I love my mints and I love my minty Sticky.

 

Definitely great pieces for the collection Jake. I just hated shaving with my Sticky. Didn't get a good shave from it at all. And the sticky becomes non-existent if you've got soap on your hands - and I like to get messy when I'm lathering and shaving so I always had soap on my hands. To be honest, I hated the shave from it so much, I sold it. Complete mint set with shipper box. Didn't even get back what I had in it after shipping. But I needed a new cell phone badly and when I went looking at what I had that I could sacrifice to sell, that poor Sticky reminded me how much I hate him. So.. off he went! But now I kind of wish I had it back, for collector's sake. You don't find 'em mint like I had, often.

You should shave with it and post a review.

One more entry for the 17-23 Oct haul:
Received 2 Adjustables: one mint condition Vintage Merkur 500 in its case and a much used French Gibbs #15 also in it's case, although this one is really badly worn off on the outside. Not sure why I was bidding for the Gibbs, must have been in the spur of the moment. The Merkur I wanted as it is Vintage (pre-1990, not that old but still over 20 years, and it still says "W. Germany" on the bottom of the head)

 

What case did your 500 come in? My vintage NOS 500 came in a cardboard box, but I heard they came in plastic cases too and would to see one.
