  2. A friend of mine got back from a tour with a band, that took him to China by way of Saudi Arabia. He said he was riding in the back seat of a limo on the highway, in the desert in Arabia; when the cat driving put the cruise control on and climbed into the back seats....He looked up front and saw NO DRIVER !!! He nearly had a heart attack. Said he had never seen anything like, that weird...He jumped over the seat and started driving the car himself...Everyone in the car was laughing...They said the road is straight...we're in a desert...nothing to hit...LMAO !! They said on this strip of road they do this all the time... He swears thats a true story...

Guess thats kinda like shaving with an "I" type Schick....Really hard not to get a great shave...LOL ...You can put a Schick on "Auto Shave Pilot"
  3. Well, after trying the Feather SE blades that Hoosiertrooper sent me, I can honestly say that I really like the VAS. I now need to buy some of those blades.
He sent me two to try. I've gotten 4 fantastic shaves so far, with one blade. I'll use it until it tells me it's time to swap, and then I'll use the other.
    Very nice blades.
  4. Sharp little rascals aren't they? Glad to hear you're liking the VAS, they're definitely an underrated razor.
  5. Another nice pick up.
    Schick G5: Turquoise handle
Package: Brown and cream cardboard box.

I know that everyone likes the butterscotch handles, but my favorite is the turquoise! Now I have one!

  6. Very nice, I love the turqouise handles. I have one but the spring is loose and doesn't hold the blade down tight enough to use safely, except with the Personna twin blades.

  7. Here's my latest two additions, both were purchased from B&B members. A beautiful Ever-Ready Streamline and a 1975 Gillette Injector, date code V2. I've missed a couple of the Streamlines and won't pay what they usually go for on eBay, so my patience finally paid off. Can't wait to give em both a whirl!

  8. Please post and update on how the streamline shaves
  9. Congratulations. Where's the envy emoticon? The Streamline/Jewel is the one SE left on my acquisition list, but I haven't found one yet. The only injector I still want is a G2, no luck there either.

I'm curious how the Streamline shaves also. I've read that they're fairly aggressive, but that means different things to different people.
  10. First shave in and it's definitely a keeper. I used vintage Glastonbury Williams soap and a new Treet carbon steel blade, figured I'd use my favorites for it's maiden voyage. It's every bit as aggressive/efficient as the open comb Micromatic, but still has the feel of the 1912, if that makes sense. The extra weight is what I really noticed. All in all, it's every bit as good performance wise as any of the highly rated SE's, with a lot of elegance and refinement thrown in.

I find it interesting that when they designed these in the 50's they went back to the round top plate similar to the 1912 Damaskeene and the 1914 Ever-Ready models. I'm convinced that the round top plate does make a difference, maybe somebody on the design team thought so as well.

  11. Nice Tom; the Streamline handle looks like a Silver Star..which is gold for some reason.
  12. Hey there injector users. Been using my injector for a while now but I find the blades tug at times and honestly hasn't been the most comfortable shave. I know about doing correct passes and no pressure. Wondering if anyone has used an injector and another razor to get some comparison? Thinking about a Merkur, any thoughts or razor suggestions?
  13. The closest comparison is the razor system that was based on the injector, the Trac II cartridge system. If you are having issues with the injector, going to DE is not going to give you a good comparison because the head and geometry are different.

    Here is a Trac II.

    Here is an injector.

If you want to work on the injector technique, I would move to a Trac II since they are inexpensive on e-Bay and the cartridges are not expensive.
It is my favorite cartridge razor because it is so much like the injector.
  14. What blades are you using?
  15. You may want to try one of the heavier injectors like the Pal Adjustable or the Paul Revere if you can find one. Also, I use the heavier metal/silver Atra and like it a lot better than the lighter plastic/metal ones. Tom's point about using a different blade is good advice.

  17. Oh boy, 74 is a very, very tough number to follow, but I'll offer the number 66. Just got this mint one recently and I don't believe it was ever used before this morning by me.

  18. Hooiser, how do you like that finish? I've been looking at one with that finish on it.
  19. I like it, but can't really feel any difference between them and the ones with the smooth finish. I do think they're less common than the smooth ones. I have three, from left to right is an E2, a G1 and the G4. I used the E2 this morning.
