On my Gillette injector it is on the the flat surface on the underside on each side of the handle. I can't read it without holding it under a bright light because it's so far up behind the blade compartment. This picture might help.
Question for anyone familiar with Gem's Contour: what's the preferred angle for this thing, flat to the face or angled slightly away? Just got one in the mail and am saving up a weekend's worth of beard to give it a spin. Thanks...
I've got a couple Contour I and II's and use a slightly off the face angle, pretty much the same as all SE's. They are a bit top heavy because the handle is so light.
The only difference btw the I and II, as I understand it, is the I is pushbutton and II is flip-top? Any other diffs?
Chalk it up to technique. Was having an argument with my injector but I decided to change up my shaving strokes from my typical longer stroke to using short choppy strokes for my neck and bam! Getting much better shaves and happier skin too. Here's to learning.
Apparently with the Contour II, the plate where the handle attaches to the head was plastic on some later ones, which I know only from seeing pictures of ones belonging to other people. It's metal on mine. Also have read that the springs on this final Gem flip top model tended to go bad with use, but I don't know if that's good information or not. I like mine, but don't use it often enough to wear it out.
I didn't do a thing....Injector and SE's rock!!...And people who use them like to party!!.... From the looks of things, it won't be long before we need an 'R41' party thread....lol
Yo Nick...Thats a beaut....You're not kiddin' when you say real nice!!! Looks like you got it new off the Drug Store shelf....We need an indepth review....How she stacks up to that E1 of yours....??
Hey, Lloyd- I just put a new China Schick blade in the Schick G1, and will take it on a test run with the Arko in the morning!
Wednesday morning, Schick G1 Injector Razor w/ Schick Blade, Omega 20107 Boar Bristle Brush, Arko shave soap w/ hot water lather, finish w/ cold water rinse for a DFS! First shave with a Schick G1 and a new Schick blade - DFS!
Picked this up on Monday have had two shaves so far.But having a little trouble getting correct angle on my neck.If I lay razor too flat against skin the blade holder tab gets in the way and too much of a angle I get a very rough shave.Which is the best angle or approach for this razor?Anyways I'll keep working on it ,doing pretty good on most of the face. Also what is the model number of this razor and is this considered a lather catcher?Posted a different photo in Haul of the week.
This one is definitely considered a lather-catcher. The angle I've found to be the best with these in learning to use them is "almost" laying the razor top flat against your face. Just angling it out a little bit. After you get the hang of it, you'll start experimenting by angling out a little further, etc. Trick is to go fairly slow, don't get in a hurry as you learn. Nice lather-catcher
Lost out on a Hydro Magic tonight, even though I put in a snipe for more than it went for. It ended up going for the starting bid. On the bright side, I got an OCMM in the Bakelite box with the blade boxes AND a 1912 with the ornate handle, in the box. Put in a snipe for what I was willing to pay, and got it for the starting bid. I'm mostly happy, but still confused. $10.88 snipe, and the Schick went for the $4.00 opening bid. ??????? Oh, well. I almost bid on a Lucite 3 pc DE, but decided that I'd be afraid of breaking it. It would be great for the collection but, if I can't use it, I don't need it. I hope a collector won it.
Jaymo, sorry you didn't get it, I thought that one would have been perfect for you. I could have sworn I had one around here somewhere if you didn't get that one, but I can't find it so far. I'll let you know if I do.
