Nothing worse than a cold house, well except for a cold toilet seat.

    65’ Gillette Slim (setting 7)
    Derby Extra (d2)
    Preshave Oil Blend
    Renaissance Man Black Amber S/S
    Vulfix 404 Grosvenor
    Pinuad Clubman Virgin Island BR

Great shave (4.7). Revisited a Derby this week. It has been a long time, perhaps 6 mo or a yr. Back then Derby's seemed to be at their best for me in the Slim and with some preshave oil in support, and even then it cut my neck consistently. Did this routine today, and got a near BBS without a scratch. Go figure. It pays to revisit past demons.

Many thanx Mang :) I am very psyched and I also think I have found a great dealer who I can get suggestions from. I will give him a plug. Gary at Shoe Box Shave.

    Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - Today's the day!
    1. Prep: Hot shower; CB Super Sensitive facewash; hand strop blade
    2. Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Nicaraguan w/ cream
    3. Lather: MWF - face lather
    4. Brush: Simpsons Commodore X2
    5. Razor: Gem HFT
    6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (1); 3+ passes
    7. Post: Cold water rinse; Aqua Velva mixed w/ California Baby super sensitive face lotion
And an audible sigh of relief was heard from my bathroom this morning. The MWF lathered brilliantly even in my hard water. I loaded a bit longer and I think the brush is breaking in as it's holding more lather. I easily had enough lather today for 5 passes. I'm very pleased with the Simpsons Best grade of hair. Tomorrow morning I'm going back to my Vulfix Super to see how it performs on MWF.

Went to my barber-Frank-for shave today: lost count at 10 hot towels-sweeeeet and smooooooth.
He used Proraso and told me he was confused when he first saw Proraso soap/cream as it
    was first a pre-shave. Pro=pre, Raso=lather. Great tidbit.

Your barber was on the Andy Griffith show?

Never knew that about the Porasso naming. Nice bit of trivia.

But if "pro = pre" why do they have "pre = pre" on their pre/post cream tub?

    proraso-cream.jpg

I would also guess "Raso" would mean razor. But I don't speak Italian, and can only decipher some of the writing.
