    JHL Cologne

This morning I wanted a good nostalgic and extra "old-school" shave, so I selected the Noxzema cream which was and still is, and always will be my #1 absolute favorite cream. The Burt's Bees Bay Rum balsam has a lovely scent which blends very well with the JHL cologne without clashing with it. ;) :D

    Happy Wednesday From Florida!

    Hot Shower
    RAB Scuttle
    Vulfix 404 Ba/Bo
    Monsavon Bol Raser
Dubl Duck - Pass 1 - Thanks Glen!
    R-41 - Pass 2 & 3
    Feather (3)
    Cold Water Rag
    Poraso ASM
    Polo Knock Off

    3 Passes = DFS!

I grabbed the Duck to try out Glen's new edge as he has been experimenting with different hones and techniques. The edge is fantastic! However, I have come to believe that a successful straight shave is 75% confidence and 25% skill, both of which are acquired via routine straight shaving. It has been a long time since I have been a regular user, so I finished up with the R-41.

    Have a great day Ya'll!

Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Gillette Super Thin
    Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super
Soap or Cream: Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Soap
A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Toner

A fine, refreshing shave this wet and foggy morning. I don't think it will turn into snow, but the kids in the neighborhood are hoping.

Holy cow! Is that the razor that had the crack? If so, Glen did a fantastic job.

    Wednesday:

No shave today. It looks like I'm going to become an every other day shaver because, I've gotten good enough with the straight that it's about 95% BBS when I'm done. 24 hours after a shave I have the same amount of stubble that I had when I finished with a DE razor, and it's really a waste to lather up and not have much to cut.:(

    Wednesday:
    Colgate Cup Soap
    Omega Professional Boar
    Schick Adjustable Injector
    Schick blade

This plan of using soaps for a week at a time is working out great, seems like by the third day I'm really getting the most out of them, not that they're bad on the first day.
Hadn't used the Schick adjustable in a while. That's the problem with having a lot of razors, perfectly good ones can sit on the bench for months. I put it on the high setting, and got a very close shave.

    Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - Today's the day!
    1. Prep: Hot shower; CB Super Sensitive facewash; hand strop blade
    2. Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Nicaraguan w/ cream - last pot, moving to Costa Rican next.
    3. Lather: MWF - face lather
    4. Brush: Vulfix 2234
    5. Razor: Ever Ready 1924
    6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (2); 3 passes
    7. Post: Cold water rinse; Aqua Velva mixed w/ California Baby super sensitive face lotion
Re-visited the 1924 Ever Ready and quickly remembered why it's been relegated. I don't like the shorter handles (more justification for the Grande version of the R41) and the closed combs just don't work well on my face for some reason that I can't figure out. Still got a DFS, just with irritation that my neck is not happy with.

Shave Rating - Lacklusterly smooth. God Bless!

Fantastic shave today lads, felt compelled to post. I got a nice little addition to my den, a stand for the sink that holds a lot of gear.

Prep: Hot shower, wash face, conditioner on the beard
Pre-shave oil, shaving cream, aftershave: Art of Shaving Sandalwood
    Brush: AoS Fine Badger
Razor: Parker 91R with a Merkur Platinum
Post: styptic, Thayer's Cucumber, balm, and a spritz of CK Eternity on the wrists and behind the ears :)

Face lathering has been giving me my best results lately so I'm sticking with it. Two passes and a little touch-up led to a DFS++ shave. One momentary lapse of concentration led to a nick under the jawline but I actually was a little pleased as it felt like a learning experience. I ended up feeling very refreshed and in a zen mood. I capped the shave off by walking about 1/2 mile in the sunshine and getting a haircut. Have a great day guys!
