I kind of disagree with some of Mantic's thoughts in the video though.... I use more water with this soap then most others, and yet my lather looks slightly richer than his; yes it foams at first but it thickens up somehow. The dense brush theory, while it works, I find if I use a floppier brush but take the time to reload it once, it produces the best lather for me; then again that seems to be the case with most products using a floppy brush.
How many other soaps (brand specific) have required a video on how to lather them? That should tell you something about this soap.
Well I've now had 2 lathers back in my hard water on the Fat and I'm very relieved. It still lathers very well. Yesterday I used the Commodore X2 while today I used the Vulfix 2234. The X2 was definitely easier to use on this soap. I needed to spend a good bit more time loading the Vulfix, but it still produced a wonderful lather. Which face lathering experience did I enjoy the most, the Simpson or Vulfix you might ask? The only answer I can give you is a resounding "YES"! They both feel completely different on the face so it just depends on what I'm in the mood for. Today I would have preferred the X2, but I really wanted to see how the Vulfix did on the puck. I hate to hear how so many have trouble with this soap as I'm really liking it's properties and results. I'm quite thankful that it's behaving itself for me. For those that it doesn't obey may I suggest that you don't spare the rod with this soap. Really work it hard and show it who's the boss just as if you were Tony Danza!
How did it cost you $30?!? I order it directly through T&H online and get mine for $12 or $23 (2.5 oz or 3.5 oz).
There is no ceramic dish. From T&H it only comes with a wooden bowl. Did you get it priced from a secondary source?
Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about MWF, but you're speaking on T&H. I know nothing about T&H, sorry. Edit: I just looked at the T&H website and the refill puck is $23. I'm guessing with shipping it could get close to $30. Either way, a little pricier than I'm comfortable with.
I followed suit as well. Looking forward to trying MWF, as the colder weather is upon us, any extra protection I can have for my face would be a bonus. Only issue that concerns me just a little, is the area in which I live has hard water.
Here is the bottom line fellows, there is no lathering problem with MWF. If someone needs a video to show them how to make lather, they should start using an electric razor ASAP because they are going to hurt themselves.
Guys, Today, I opened the lid of my MWF and noticed the puck had a crack in it that ran all the way thru. I pinched the crack together but was wondering if this is normal for MWF? I'm storing it in the ceramic MWF container and it's been about a week and half since I used it. Thanks.
Yup. Normal. Does not affect how the soap performs at all. I know it bugs some folks because it just isn't cosmetically appealing, but, like I said, won't affect the lathering or shave quality at all.
If you go more than a couple of days without using it, it'll crack and split on you. It likes to stay moist.
Yep, what they all said. I don't even cover mine so it gets all cracky. Soak it while you shower and it'll be fine.
Hey, no need to apologize. We all gotta start someplace. Keep askin' the questions. That's how we learn. And by the way, I'd put money on it that there were three or four other folks out there who were wondering the same thing but were too embarrassed to ask. So, see there? You helped out a few fellow newbies. Way to go!
